For over 12 years, the distinctive downtown DC location and approachable menu at Teddy & The Bully Bar reflect Theodore Roosevelt’s love for simple American comfort food, including steaks, fried chicken and house-made cornbread. Our seasonal menus feature a contemporary twist on classic comfort dishes with a focus on quality, locality and simplicity. We pay special attention to sourcing from our local producers, representing President Roosevelt’s belief to “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” It is said that while President Theodore Roosevelt loved to eat, to him the dinner table was less an occasion for fine dining than as a springboard for conversations. In keeping with this, we have created a stunning interior design for Teddy and the Bully Bar that keeps patrons talking. Hometown artist Maggie O’Neill’s design for sister restaurant LINCOLN was recognized by DC Modern Luxury Magazine as the Best New Restaurant Design of 2011 – she and her team rose to the occasion once again. The space is a classic, contemporary restaurant that is both trendsetting and timeless. Many aspects of President Roosevelt’s life and the era in which he led our great nation were skillfully and artfully incorporated into the look and feel of Teddy & The Bully Bar, including old time coffee pots, gas-powered light fixtures retro-fitted with electric, faux taxidermy, Mount Rushmore-themed art, a beautiful restored antique stove and a birch “forest” diorama designed to invoke Roosevelt’s love of the outdoors and his National Parks legacy. Blocks from monuments, hotels and the White House, Teddy & The Bully Bar is perfectly located in the center of everything that is DC.
