The W.P. Sawyer House & Garden at Elmwood Farm is a beautiful historic location, built c.1910, and has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1977. You’ll find elegant English style gardens brimming with roses, lilies, trees nearly 100 years old and lovely landscaping at every turn. This exceptional property is available on a very limited basis each summer for weddings and celebrations. Fantastic garden views make excellent backdrops for photos, along with props from the carriage house provide unique and stately photography opportunities. The bride’s dressing room is just off the patio in the home, plus a bandstand with large patio for dancing, covered kitchen/serving area, indoor restrooms and large spaces to seat 350 to 400 guests plus ample parking are part of the venue. The Simonds Guest House, c.1908, next door, can provide comfortable and charming lodging for 10 to 12 overnight guests, and is decked out in antiques to compliment the home’s style.
This colonial mansion was the home of William Perry Sawyer, an influential merchant who served in the Legislature from 1892-95 and played a key role in building Yakima’s streetcar system as well as the Masonic Temple. For their preservation work, the Ericksons received one of the State Historic Preservation Officer’s 2010 Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Historic Preservation.
The event must have a wedding planner in place to handle all arrangements. Tables, chairs, tents, catering etc. must be handled separately and are not included. We invite you to drop-off, set up and arrange pick up of all supplies over the course of the weekend.
