We invite you to relax, restore, and explore Hawk Valley Retreat & Cottages and the Cording Event Barn. We are a nature lover’s Bed, and Breakfast and event barn located just a fifteen-minute drive east of Historic Galena, IL. Our newly renovated Cording Event Barn is the perfect place for corporate events, family reunions, small weddings, and other events with up to 40 guests. A wall of windows overlooks the valley, and the porch is the perfect place to dine al fresco. Every morning, this is where you will enjoy a scratch-made full breakfast with home-baked goods and items from our farm, including fresh eggs and our own honey. We do all of our own Catering and offer BYOB for alcoholic beverages. At Hawk Valley Retreat & Cottages, we have three rooms in the main house and four private cottages. Each of the rooms has its own bathroom and a separate entrance from the deck. Our four private cottages include a kitchenette with a dining table, sitting area, fireplace, whirlpool tub, and private deck. Each cabin is heated and air-conditioned and has a satellite TV, DVD player, and bluetooth speaker. Our mile-long walking trail takes you past our pond, through our meadows and pine forest, and past our historic barns. At the garden barn, be sure to stop and check out our flock of laying chickens and heard of goats. When you are finished exploring, you can sit on one of our porch swings or in the gazebo and watch the birds, listen to the sounds of nature, and enjoy the fantastic sunsets over the valley. In addition to all that our property has to offer, you are within a short driving distance of downtown Galena, with all its history, shops, and restaurants. When it’s time to relax, explore the local vineyards, breweries, and distilleries. History buffs will enjoy visiting President Grant’s house, the Galena Museum or taking a narrated trolley tour of the historic homes. There are several state parks and country preserves where you can hike, bike, kayak, or just float down a river in an innertube. If you feel adventurous, check out the nearby zip-line course, riding stables, or take a hot air balloon ride.
