About Olmsted

Olmsted is a neighborhood restaurant in the heart of Prospect Heights from chef-owner Greg Baxtrom. We offer a seasonal, ingredient-driven menu, some of which comes straight from our backyard garden (yes, you’re welcome to sit there for a drink and a bite). We built the entire restaurant with a living wall and lush garden ourselves, and named it after Frederick Law Olmsted, the famed architect behind nearby Prospect Park. Olmsted's dining room can host private dinners of up to 40 guests or cocktail parties up to 80 guests. Our private dining room is perfect for holiday celebrations, intimate dinner parties, weddings and anniversaries. The room is lined wall-to-wall with William Morris floral wallpaper, and also features custom bookshelves that display Greg's favorite cookbooks and bottles of wine. You can enter the dining room from the garden by walking through a hallway that features an immersive, floor-to-ceiling forest installation created by florist Michelle Double. You can also reserve the year-round garden for private use, which is kept cozy by heat lamps throughout the winter. We offer a variety of packages for seated dinners and cocktail parties for lunch, brunch or dinner for up to 30 guests. Menus include a mix of our seasonal favorites in addition to special offerings created exclusively for events.
