About Qristina & Quinn Bachand

With three Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, three Irish Music Award nominations and two Irish Music Award wins for Top Traditional Group and Top Duo, all since 2009, Qristina and Quinn Bachand have quickly become two of the most important young musicians in the Celtic music world. Twenty one year old Qristina Bachand is an expressive and passionate fiddler, with a unique style that is bold and edgy. Clearly at ease on stage, she captivates her audience with a spirited performance that showcases her energy and love of Celtic music. She recently added songs to the duo's repertoire and is already receiving rave reviews as a vocalist. With diverse musical talents and a bottomless pool of creativity, sixteen year old, Quinn Bachand, is recognized as the "Young Lion" of Celtic guitar. He is one of the most gifted and creative guitar players today (Ashley MacIsaac). Quinn adds a contemporary edge to traditional Celtic music; his unique harmonies, hard-driving strumming, inventive chord voicing and powerful rhythmic effects make even the most well-worn tunes seem new and exciting. An in-demand sideman, Quinn has toured nationally and internationally performing with Canadian fiddling icons Ashley MacIsaac and Natalie MacMaster as well as other artists. Qristina & Quinn have released two critically acclaimed albums, "Relative Minors" (2008) and "Family" (2011). Their sophomore album, "Family", features a repertoire of mostly Irish traditional music, with Qristina on fiddle & vocals and Quinn playing guitar plus several other instruments including Irish tenor banjo, 5-string banjo, bodhran and electric guitar. Guests include Zac Leger (uilleann pipes, flute, whistle), Scott Senior (cajon, bonjo, shakers, percussion), Adrian Dolan (accordion, mandola), Felix Prummel (low whistle), Oliver Swain (bass & vocals) & Bryan Skinner (bodhran). Qristina & Quinn Bachand have performed at Folk and Celtic festivals across Canada, the U.S. and Europe and have been featured on numerous national and international radio and television programs.
