About Swedenborgian Church

Open to people of all backgrounds, the wedding program is non-denominational. We welcome same-gender couples and non-religious ceremonies. Guest officiants are welcome upon approval. By celebrating your marriage at this National Historic Landmark, you weave yourself into the fabric of San Francisco’s vibrant history. Our sanctuary is also available to rent for other events, such as for yoga classes, meditation sessions, lectures, and concerts. The Parish House can be rented out for birthday parties, corporate meetings or off site retreats, engagement parties, and non-profit events. Full kitchen included. Two outdoor spaces are also included in the rental of the venue.

A Day to Remeber - An Eventective User from San Rafael, CA

I couldn't have been happier with our chose of the Swedenborgian Church for our wedding ceremony. The church is a historic landmark that is full of whimsy and charm. Its old wood/log construction give an ambiance like no other church I have been to. We choose to have it around Christmas and it was wonderfully yet tastefully decorated. The ceremony went off without a hitch. There were small rooms for my wife and bridesmaids to get prim and proper while another space for my groomsmen and I to have a beer and relax until it started. The church is not that large so if you are planning to have a big wedding you will have to only invite the most important family and friends to the ceremony. The church and staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a friend who was able to be ordained online to marry us; they were not picky and choosy about religious beliefs. We brought in a lovely 3 piece string band for our music and our wedding planner had a boy's choir outside after the ceremony to sing Christmas songs to the exiting friends and family. I would recommend planning early as I believe they are usually pretty busy. Also it was very helpful to hire a valet service as there is only street parking available. It makes it a lot easier on the out of town guests as well as some people may not be used to parking on very hilly streets. The day went off beautifully and I will remember how great, fun, exciting, it was for the rest of my life.
