About SUNY Cortland Antlers

Antlers is a small outdoor and environmental education center on the western shore of Raquette Lake. We are located in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Our natural environment provides scenic views unequaled in other parts of the state. Originally run as The Antlers Hotel, the rustic facilities were built in the late 1880’s. Currently, the Center encompasses seven original buildings including a dining hall and several sleeping accommodations. Antlers has 16 bedrooms sleeping up to 41 people. The beds are all twin-sized, some of which are bunk beds. Each room has its own private bathroom. The facility operates from mid-May through mid-October. The Casino, located directly above the Cummings Dining Room, serves as the Antlers classroom. The Casino is a large open room complete with folding tables and chairs. With its wireless computer network, Antlers offers technological access to user groups who wish to bring computers. We also have two TV DVD/VCR units, a slide projector, overhead projector and two portable screens. The Main Lodge offers a living room-style meeting room as well. The kitchen and the Cummings Dining Room at Antlers is operated by the Auxiliary Services Corporation of SUNY Cortland (ASC). Three healthy, well-balanced meals are prepared daily. Meals are served sit down family style. The kitchen utilizes people from each group to help, known as the kitchen patrol or KP's. Everyone should take a turn pitching in and helping. Also with advanced notification, users can be ferried across Raquette Lake to Huntington Memorial Camp to use the hiking trails, nature trail or the challenge course. Trained facilitators are required to lead groups on the challenge course. Activities equipment includes horseshoes, canoes, kayaks, an outdoor fire pit, volleyball and a shared sand beach. We are located approximately two and a half hours from Syracuse and Albany. No public transportation is available.
