Our Space: MASC is an acronym for Moksha Aerial Studio Collective; a training agency for the movement arts of Aerial, Acro, Dance, Flow and Fire. We offer classes and programming for youth and adults of all levels and physical abilities. Our friendly, community oriented space was built to inspire those who wish to celebrate the gift of movement. MASC serves as a community hub as well. Designed for multi-functionality, its the perfect space for private parties, theatre and performance productions, and other events! Featuring a kitchenette, showers, lounges, green room, full sound system, stage lighting, projector/screen, and equipment. We support local and grassroots organizations by providing a venue for trainings and public forums, and by donating services for fundraisers and causes. Birthday and bachelorette parties are a hit at MASC! You and your friends will make awesome memories in your own private movement class and celebration! Our Valuable People and Services: Youth Programs: MASC Youth Programs focus on mindfulness, body awareness, movement and expression. We offer an alternative format of instruction that allows youth to discover and express their unique talents and passions. Instructors: Our experienced and qualified instructors are trained to teach with a positive and child-centered understanding to ensure every child has an experience that improves their self-esteem. Each class includes age appropriate games and conditioning designed to increase strength, dexterity, and agility. So the kids can dazzle you with their fresh steez and skillz, on the last day of the series, parents and guardians are invited to a free performance! Performers: We are home to the Performers Guild, MASC Artisans; a vibrant group of performers with a distinct and polished flair to coalesce the stirring effects of ephemeral art and experience. Our Mission: To provide access to learning and experiencing the movement arts. We specialize in aerial; acrobatics on suspended apparatus, and flow; movement meditation with props. Our programs provide opportunities for students to engage in activities that boost fitness and well-being. At MASC, sense of community is strong. We cultivate supportive relationships with students, and organizations, and thrive on collaborative efforts. Our team is driven by the concepts of the Professionalism, and Community Inclusivity and Responsibility. Our Story: In 2012, Moksha Aerial Studio was developed as a program within a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing healthy alternatives for youth. By 2014, Sally Jo Beck and Bethany Stanbery saw Moksha’s potential for growth, and it became its own entity; offering classes for all ages and birthing Missoula’s first performers guild for aerial and flow arts. In its fourth year, the company is well known by its catchy acronym ‘MASC,’ and has expanded to a 5000 sq ft facility. Aerial and other programs are flourishing for youth and adults within the studio, and community collaborations with programs such as Flagship, Spark, Turning the Wheel, MUST gym, Freedom Within, and the University of MT. Performance artists, the MASC Artisans, are enjoyed by many audiences at diverse events and celebrations region wide!
