People Often Ask

We comfortably host up to 60 guests seated and 70 standing or mingling. That said, capacity is a number and comfort is a feeling. A seated dinner for [XX] and a standing reception for [XX] are completely different rooms, even in the same four walls. Tell us your guest count and the kind of event you're imagining, and we'll tell you honestly whether the space will do it justice, including if the answer is that it won't.
You'll find us right at the corner of Main and Davis, right in the heart of Newmarket, in the Union building; a space with a good deal of local history behind it and, we think, a fair bit of charm still in it. Inside, the room opens up rather than boxing you in. There's a main gathering space that anchors everything, a foyer that welcomes your guests as they arrive, and an atrium that catches beautiful light through the afternoon. It's the kind of layout that lets an event breathe — people can cluster, drift, find a quiet corner for a conversation, and still feel like they're part of the same room. Photos only tell you so much. If you're weighing us up, come stand in it. We'll put the coffee on.
Yes. We're glad to cater your event ourselves; our kitchen does everything from grazing tables and sandwich buffets to full charcuterie spreads, but we're not precious about it. If you have a caterer you love, a family recipe that has to be there, or you're simply keeping things simple, you're welcome to bring food in. We ask only that everything arrives ready to serve, and that you supply your own platters, serving pieces, plates and utensils. Our team will help you get it set out beautifully. One exception worth flagging early: food is flexible, drinks are not. More on that below.
All beverages come through The Network Brew, and we'd honestly prefer to keep it that way. We're licensed, our staff are trained, and it means the drinks side of your event is simply handled; you don't have to think about permits, purchasing, or who's watching the room. That said, we understand there are occasions where you'd rather bring your own, and we can accommodate it. Here's what's required: Corkage fee. A corkage fee applies if you wish to bring in your own beverages of any kind. This is not limited to alcohol — it includes, but is not limited to, coffee, teas, sodas, juices, water, wine, beer and spirits. The fee is quoted per event depending on the space and the size of your group, and we'll include it in your quote up front so there are no surprises. You'll need a Special Occasion Permit. This must be obtained and in hand before your event date, and applied for through the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). Apply early; processing takes time, and the permit must be posted at the event. All alcohol served under it has to be purchased from the LCBO or The Beer Store, with receipts kept on site. You must provide a Smart Serve certified bartender. Nobody self-serves, and nobody pours for themselves at the table. Your bartender's certification needs to be current and available on request. We'll walk you through it all if you decide to go this route; we'd rather help you do it properly than have you sort it out alone. But if it starts to feel like a lot of paperwork for a party, that's rather our point: let us pour, and it all disappears.
Yes, our space is fully furnished and ready to go with tables and chairs included in your booking. We also have additional folding tables and chairs available for rent if your layout requires extra seating.
Absolutely, and we'd encourage it. The room is meant to be moved. Long banquet tables for a family dinner, for a shower or a birthday, a cleared floor for dancing, lounge groupings for a networking evening, theatre rows for a presentation- we've done all of it, and often several in one afternoon. Come to us with the feeling you want in the room rather than a floor plan, if that's easier. Tell us "I want people talking to strangers by the end of the night" or "I want everyone able to see my mother when she speaks," and we'll build the layout backwards from there.
We keep the essentials on hand so you're not renting equipment for a two-hour event. That includes our in-house sound system, plugging in a playlist, running a speech, or handing a teenager the aux cable at their birthday party, along with a microphone, TV displays and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout for you and your guests. There's ample power for anything you need to plug in. If your event needs a larger sound setup, stage lighting, or a DJ, tell us early and we'll help you arrange it with people we trust locally.
There is, and it's genuinely one of the best parts of booking with us. Our barista station stays open for the length of your event, staffed by people who know what they're doing — proper espresso, not a carafe on a warmer in the corner. Coffee, tea, specialty drinks, soft drinks and water are all available to your guests throughout. You have two ways to run it. Open it up, and we'll keep a running tab billed to you after the event at flat rates, currently $2 for soft drinks and water, $3 for coffee and tea, $4 for specialty drinks, so you only pay for what's actually poured. Or let guests order and pay for themselves, at no cost to you at all. We also offer full bar service with wine, beer, and spirits, served by Smart Serve-certified staff under the appropriate permit. Prepaid packages or a running tab, whichever suits. The corkage note Corkage fee. A corkage fee applies if you wish to bring in your own beverages of any kind. This is not limited to alcohol; it includes, but is not limited to, coffee, teas, sodas, juices, water, wine, beer and spirits. The fee is quoted per event depending on the space and the size of your group, and we'll include it in your quote up front so there are no surprises.
Private events, particularly those scheduled on Sundays, require a minimum booking of 4 hours. We also recommend scheduling additional time before and after your event for setup and cleanup.
We would love to show you around! During the week, we operate as a co-op workspace, so you are welcome to drop in anytime to see the space, grab a coffee, or get some work done. If you would like a dedicated walkthrough to discuss specific event details, please pre-book a tour with our team.
