Waterhouse is the private events and fine dining venue inside one of Nevada City’s best-known buildings: an 1860 brick landmark in historic downtown that has hosted dinners and celebrations since 1973, for most of that time as Friar Tuck’s. Two rooms can be booked separately or together. The Sherwood Room seats guests beneath a glowing tree canopy built by local artists, beside a custom mahogany bar and a stage with a full sound system. The Waterhouse Room is historic brick walls, tall street-facing windows, and warm Edison lighting, as suited to weekday meetings and trainings as it is to rehearsal dinners and milestone birthdays. The Pine Street Terrace, our streetside patio, adds open-air space for cocktail hours and receptions, with full food and drink service. For larger occasions, a full buyout gives you the entire venue for up to 150 guests. Our kitchen caters every event in-house, from passed appetizers for a mixer to a four-course plated dinner, with a tiered bar program poured from a cellar that has earned the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 19 years running. We host intimate weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate meetings, holiday parties, and private dinners for 15 to 150 guests.
