Dolphin Transportation began in 1994 on the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts. With a fleet of three antique cars, the business originally focused on providing chauffeured services to the wedding industry. Since Nantucket was a popular place for weddings, the business immediately exploded, with each vehicle being booked with 5 to 6 weddings daily.
Owner, Francis “Fizz” Papps relocated to Naples, Florida, in September of 2001, and shortly thereafter began providing transportation services to the Registry Resort and Club based on a handshake deal, which was later solidified in 2003 with a written, long-term contract.
In October, 2005, DTS made a strategic decision to purchase the Naples franchise of Carey International. Utilizing the expanded fleet and staff and the licensing rights to the Carey name, Fizz began to focus on developing the Company’s systems and technology to apply the same level of quality and service that was associated with the Dolphin name to the Carey franchise acquisition
DTS also specializes in providing transportation coordination service and meet and greet services for large events and groups, as well as corporate clients. Working with ESPN over the last 10 years has given Fizz and his team the opportunity to perfect transportation coordination through events including Superbowls, X Games, Great Outdoor Games and the Bass Master’s ClSENIOR MANAGEMENT
Sharon Johnson, Group Sales Manager
With over 20 years in the hotel, tourism and transportation industries, Sharon has worked on the Dolphin team since 2003. She started her career in the industry at the Registry Resort while it was still in the construction stages in 1986, culminating in the Special Events department in 2002. Prior to joining DTS, she worked at the local office of a national DMC company in Naples. Sharon has extensive experience in destination sales and a vast knowledge of the Naples area. Her public relations skills are outstanding and her ability to cultivate business relationships has had a huge impact on the company’s success.
James House, Group Sales & Marketing
James has been involved in the hotel, trade show, convention, and special event fields for over twenty years. Prior to joining DTS, he plied his trade as a Director / Manager of Special Events at some of Florida’s finest hotels and production companies, where he has designed, produced, and managed events on both Florida coasts for most major Fortune 500 companies. From his time as a concierge at one of Florida's finest 5 Star resorts in his early career, customer service and attention to detail have been the hallmarks of his every endeavor. His unique experience in both the sales and operations aspects of numerous conventions and trade shows serves our clientele well, as evidenced by his "hands on - start to finish" approach to every project he undertakes. From Cartier of Paris Grand Openings to NFL Super Bowls, his list of clientele reads like a who’s who of corporate assics.
