About Martha's Bed & Breakfast

One of the original homes located in a lovely historic neighborhood in the vibrant community of Lincoln, Nebraska. Martha’s offers a pleasing mix of period antiques, modern conveniences, and casual elegance which join together to provide you with the perfect place for rest and relaxation. Built in 1909, Martha’s was the first home built in the distinguished Sheridan area. Named for its owner, the Spalding house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 25, 1999. Martha’s is an 8,000-square-foot home. Local lumberman Frank M. Spalding was the first person to build a home in this neighborhood. Local architect Ferdinand Fiske designed this Mission-style home. The features of this home with its large windows, sprawling front porch, and beautiful woodwork, all lend themselves to the perfect bed and breakfast experience. The interior features a grand semicircular oak staircase with cantilevered steps. Enjoy the large oak built-in buffet in the dining room. The Spalding home has had many owners over the years, including serving as a convent for the Blessed Sacrament Sisters of Mercy. Great effort went into maintaining the architectural integrity of the home from the structure to its fine furnishings.
