I am a writer and legally licensed officiant, specializing in custom-written, non-religious wedding ceremonies. My educational background includes degrees in electrical engineering and philosophy from the University of Waterloo. As a lifelong student of languages, I offer ceremonies in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Persian, Greek, and Latin.
As an atheist, I do not represent a church or religious ministry. I believe there should be equality between people in every way and that it is especially important for this principle to be recognized in marriage. I was trained and appointed as an officiant by Humanist Canada, which is a not-for-profit secular human rights organization. We were the first to secure the right of couples in Ontario to be legally married by someone other than a religious minister, and we continue to promote marriage equality for everyone across Canada and internationally.
It is your wedding, your way, and I am always delighted to entertain special requests. Whether your wish is to pepper your ceremony with Star Trek references or to exchange a spoonful of Nutella as a symbol of the sweetness of life, I will create and deliver a beautiful, memorable ceremony that reflects the two of you and the love that brings you together.
