Making plans for that special day? Our charming country church and historic rural school grounds might be just the spot you have in mind. We provide an all-inclusive venue to simplify your event planning.
The location is unique, historical, and beautiful. Our venue includes both indoor and outdoor facilities on a 2.5 acre forested property, giving you the flexibility and security to host your event year-round, in any weather. Use of the on-site chapel, outdoor covered party pavilion, school building with a full kitchen, dining rooms, men's and ladies restrooms, 40+ tables and 150+ chairs, are all included in the $1,400 event rental.
You have the freedom to customize your event layout, timeline, and the overall flow of your celebration. The lovely country chapel may be used for intimate ceremonies, or the picturesque open air pavilion and forested grounds are perfect for larger ceremonies and receptions. Our historic Stark Schoolhouse, a National Register landmark, offers a unique and versatile space for indoor ceremonies, receptions and gatherings. Amenities include indoor and outdoor ceremony areas, covered outdoors party space, flexible indoor event spaces, dressing areas, restrooms, reception areas, and free parking.
The Nine Mile Community Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run by local volunteers with a mission to honor the rural heritage of our area, promote community engagement, and provide for a sustainable future. Rental income helps fund our mission. Typical wedding rental costs for the entire Community Center property are just $1,400, plus a $1,000 refundable security deposit. We essentially block out the entire weekend for your event. Your rental fee covers a 48-hour access window, allowing stress-free setup and cleanup: from noon the day before your event until noon the day after your event.
The Community Center is an equal opportunity service provider and welcomes all types of people and events. We host birthday or anniversary parties, family reunions, as well as weddings and receptions, corporate seminars, school outings, and memorial gatherings.

It was absolutely gorgeous! From the small details of the church and the school house to all the things that were included were above and beyond our expectations. We talked to Steve a lot and his communication was quick and helpful. He was also accommodating when we asked to see the venue on short notice.

Remote and Beautiful Wedding Venue

When my then-fiance and I were looking at wedding venues, he recommended this place for our wedding, his having been to a friend's wedding that was here. I am so glad he recommended it! For me, the location was perfect: remote enough that the usual distraction of the internet could be forgotten and beautifully situated in a valley with tall trees and farmland surrounding it. Not only was the location amazing, the historical nature of the buildings was quite a draw for me. That I was contributing to the history of the place and helping keep it alive is something that I do not regret.
Working with the people who care for the venue was simple and efficient. They were always prompt in replying to my emails (which there were many since I had not moved to Montana yet and was choosing a venue from the East Coast.) They were very friendly and easy to work with. Thank you so much!
In summary: Why do I recommend this place?
1) Very affordable wedding venue. You need to have set up and clean up (delegation is key here), but less is sometimes more.
2) If you love nature and history, Nine Mile Community Center is the place to be!
3) The people who volunteer here are easy to work with and very friendly.

Nine Mile was SUPER affordable for a wedding venue. They even accommodated our needs such as tables, chairs, space to park, space for the groomsmen and bridesmaids to get ready, and bathrooms. They are all volunteers and are so friendly and helpful. There's a pavilion and lots of space in the schoolhouse to move into in case the weather gets bad. There's even a bell to ring after you are married, which is a great addition. The location is also beautiful with a field, mountains, and a beautiful spot to watch the sunset.
