Located on the north side of Clear Lake midway between Houston and Galveston, TX (across from NASA-Johnson Space Center), Bal Harbour was built following a well-planned idea. The marina accommodates sail and power boats. Six tennis courts, to USTA specifications, delight the tennis bunch. And a large swimming pool surrounded by cool decks complement a smaller wading pool.
A beautiful brick mansion called Windemere still stands on the original property, just yards from the lake and surrounded by palm, live oak and pecan trees. Boat lovers, tennis hounds and sun catchers find the property much to their liking. In the early 20th century, this area around Clear Lake was sparsely populated and visited mainly by picnic parades and weekenders wanting to escape the city heat by relaxing in a soft breeze near the water.
