The Old Fifty Six: Barn Weddings & Events

21461 240th Street,, Grundy Center, IA
Max Capacity: 225 people
The Old Fifty-Six is a distinguished landmark barn that was built in 1907 and served for years as the Worthwhile Frost Dairy Farm. The previous owners of the property decided in the 2000s to restore this beautiful historic barn back into something special. They wanted to share the barn’s charm and beauty with the community. While cleaning up the barn one day, getting it ready for what it is today, they found hung way up high on a beam a cow tag with the number 56 on it. This appeared to be the only thing in the barn at the time that had a purpose and with that The Old 56 Dairy was born. With the transition to new ownership in 2016, the name was transitioned to The Old Fifty-Six: barn weddings + events to more accurately describe its current role in the community. We specialize in weddings by offering an all-inclusive price. Included is options for both an indoor or outdoor ceremony, a large reception area featuring tons of historic charm with visible rafters in the upper level of the barn. A separate bridal suite and grooms space round out this ultimate wedding venue! Your investment includes the barn from Friday until Sunday, tables & chairs for the reception space, and wooden benches & church pews for ceremony seating. Occupancy is 200 persons comfortably with a maximum of 225. The option to bring in your own catering, as well as, provide your own beer and wine is a great feature of this wedding venue!
