Bluegrass, Gospel, Old-Time & Western Music…
Based out of the Missouri Ozarks, the Farnum Family performs in the Branson area and around the country. A touring family band for many years, they have taken their energetic blend of music, entertainment and homespun family humor all the way to Cody, Wyoming and the Texas Rio Grande Valley, as well as throughout Missouri and much of the Midwest! Meet the Farnum Family…
Benjamin (24) keeps rhythm on his Martin D-15 guitar and flat-picks some exciting and intricate instrumental leads. His expertise on the mandolin earned him 1st place at the 2015 American Heritage Music Festival (AHMF) in Grove, Oklahoma. He also sings lead and harmony.
Hannah (21) not only sings great harmony vocals, but can also warble a strong lead in the family quartet. Her fiddling includes bluegrass, traditional Irish and Texas-style tunes. Placing in several regional contests, she has earned local contest recognition. In 2012 she brought home 3rd place honors from the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas… and a beautiful hand-crafted Gama Elite Romanian violin!
Nathaniel (19) is often featured singing dynamic bluegrass and gospel leads. Highlighted on the resonator guitar, he took 1st in the 2015 AHMF Dobro Contest. He’s also an energetic percussionist playing Bodhran on many Irish tunes.
Maggie (15) plays fiddle, and has also placed in local contests. Her twin fiddle tunes with big sister Hannah earned them 3rd in the AHMF Twin Fiddle division, and have been a popular part of the Farnum Family show. She enjoys singing solo and in trio with Hannah and Mom. Now, she plays the upright bass since her oldest brother, Daniel, has taken a wife & moved off to Colorado. Maggie also sells Lilla Rose hair accessories.
Matthew (13) adds some mandolin and joins us on stage for special gospel tunes and novelty numbers like Ragtime Cowboy Joe and Pecos Bill.
Norm (Dad) is the bandleader and brunt of many bad banjo jokes. He sings lead and harmony vocals and rarely does a performance pass that he doesn’t croon his most requested Home Grown Tomatoes., as well as an old 1930 show tune, On the Sunny Side of the Street. He manages bookings, and shares driving and running sound with Benjamin. Not to be outdone by his children, he placed 1st in the 2013 AHMF Banjo Contest.
Trish (Mom) plays piano in the band and adds the unique sound of the penny-whistle to their Irish tunes. She also sings harmony & lead, and does a graceful job emceeing much of the show. She is also the producer of this family band!
The Farnum Family performs & entertains for churches, festivals, historic theaters, state and county fairs and other family oriented venues. For many years folks have seen them perform at Silver Dollar City during Bluegrass & BBQ and National Craft & Cowboy Festivals! As a family band and individually they have received both instrumental awards and vocal recognition. Always pleased to share their Christian testimony, they offer all-gospel presentations for churches and other ministry events.
