About Power Plant

Constructed in 1903 near the meeting place of the Scioto and Olentangy Rivers, in the heart of Ohio’s capital city, the historic Columbus Municipal Light Plant served the city for over seven decades, until it became outmoded and closed in 1977. The building is once again a vibrant part of Columbus’ downtown, after being restored and reimagined, and subsequently named the 2022 winner of Columbus Landmarks' James B. Recchie Design Award. The Power Plant makes its home in this landmark providing you with the history, grandeur and timeless style for your wedding, corporate party, concert, or specialty event of any size! We have five event spaces accommodating small to large groups ranging from 1300 sq ft to 6100 sq ft, or you can rent the venue in its entirety.
