My husband and I were lucky enough to have DJ Phanatic as the DJ for our wedding, and honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better person behind the booth. He's a friend of the family, so we knew we'd be in good hands, but he genuinely went above and beyond what we expected. One thing that really stood out was how tuned-in he was to the emotional beats of the day. He knew when to slow things down, when to let a moment breathe, and when to hype the room back up. Nothing felt forced or generic — it felt like he was actually in it with us. He also took the time before the wedding to put together a custom playlist with all of our must-haves, and he kept the energy steady all night. There wasn't that awkward dip you sometimes get at weddings where the dance floor clears out. He just kept it going. The biggest thing for us, though, was how he handled the music side of blending two cultures. I'm Liberian American and my husband is white American, and we wanted the night to actually reflect that — not just a token song or two. He pulled it off beautifully. West African tracks flowing into hip hop, then rock, then alternative, and it all just worked. Our older relatives were dancing next to our college friends, and everyone was having a great time without anyone feeling left out of the playlist.
