Great experience! — An Eventective User from Dwelling Farms Baum Road, Chesapeake, VA

We celebrated the marriage of our son and his new bride at Dwelling Farms. Milton, our guide and coordinator, was responsive and helpful throughout the process, and was personally on site for the event. The kitchen area is set up so that a bar table can be set up, giving the bartender full use of the kitchen area while tucking away the coolers and supplies behind the counter, keeping the guest area neat and tidy, while allowing full functionality for the bar and kitchen service. Our day of celebration was very very hot outside. The barn where we spent most of our time, was air-conditioned. We had a DJ and created a dance floor by moving some of the dinner tables to make space. It worked out fine. We started with a lovely setting, having all of the tables nicely decorated. So we had the elegance, but also the flexibility after everyone had a wonderful meal which we had catered. The caterer's smoker was set up on the gravel surface next to the barn, which was convenient. We set up the mains and the side on a table under the covered porch area. Our caterer was Bullet Smoke BBQ and we HIGHLY recommend them to anyone! Everything was delicious! We had the barbacoa, pork belly bites and chicken drums along with yummy sides. Brent is your man! We did have some issues with flies and heat, but the flies come along with the heat, and that's not something that can be changed by the venue. The weather is the weather. They did spray prior to the event. This is a wonderful venue for a group of 50 to 60 people, as the outside screened porch can be utilized along with the inside of the barn. It even worked for our group of 85 people, but we did have to move the tables, as mentioned. Even if you have a huge group, I understand that a tent can accommodate nicely, and then you would have a wide-open space in the barn, along with the tent for your seating or however you decide to use it. The farm animals are fun to watch, but there is no petting allowed for liability purposes. Understood. I highly recommend Dwelling Farms for your celebratory events! I understand they even have an area behind the barn where they will be able to facilitate a wedding. So it is a one-stop shop! Wonderful experience! and the DJ rocked!!
