The Mother Lode Theatre, Butte's center for the performing arts, is a 1,200-seat nonprofit venue hosting live entertainment from plays to concerts to dance to stand-up comedy. The theatre presents an annual series of professional touring shows as well as stand-up comedy and several other productions. In its basement is the 94-seat Orphan Girl Theatre, home of the Orphan Girl Children's Theatre, which stages community and youth theatre throughout the year. The Mother Lode Theatre is the venue of choice for local performers and arts organizations, including the Butte Symphony Association, the Butte Community Concert Association, and several dance companies. The theatre is also available for rent for both public and private events.
