People Often Ask
Usually yes. In Ontario, a Special Occasion Permit is required any time liquor is sold or served anywhere other than a licensed establishment or a private place.
You don't need one if you're serving alcohol at a private residence, including the yard although alcohol can never be sold at a residence. There are two kinds: a no-sale permit if drinks are free to guests, and a sale permit if you're running a cash bar. The permit is held by you as the host, not by us, and most private-event permits are issued within a day. We'll walk you through which one you need.
No. The permit holder purchases the alcohol; we serve it. This actually saves you money, you buy at retail and keep whatever's left over instead of paying a marked-up per-drink rate. We'll give you a shopping list based on your guest count and drink selections so you're not guessing at the LCBO.
Yes. We carry commercial liquor liability insurance and every bartender is Smart Serve certified. Ontario regulations don't require permit holders to carry party liability insurance, but many venues do require it, we can provide a certificate of insurance for your venue on request.
As a general rule, one bartender per 75 guests keeps lines short. We'll recommend a number based on your guest count, bar style, and whether you're running a full bar or beer and wine only.
Yes. We handle the bar (and event staff, if you need servers or setup crew) and coordinate directly with your caterer, planner and venue day-of.
