The Guru is $250 an hour and that includes use of our tables, chairs, and onsite manager. We require events be booked for at least three hours on Friday and Saturday nights. On all other nights and for any daytime events, it must be booked for at least two hours. (We offer special, flat rates for non-profits and some charitable events and some all-day workshops or retreats.) We allow – free of charge – an hour before the event to bring in food, etc, and up to 40 minutes afterwards to remove anything brought in. To reserve the date, we do require a deposit that goes toward your balance. You may bring in your own food and beverage/alcohol or, if you’d like to hire a caterer, I can refer you to one or you can hire a caterer of your choice. (We offer full service and can arrange anything or all you need. Price list available for these services.) Located in the Circa 1857 complex on Government Street across from The Garden District in Baton Rouge, The Guru is likely the most unique venue in town. It was built in the 1920s and used for many years as a mechanics garage and is now a serene space with 15-foot ceilings and a New Orleans feel with great ambience. It really is a very special place!
The venue has great energy. It was clean and decor is absolutely beautiful. Ms. Kay and Ms. Sydney were amazing to work with. Every question was answered. And I was stress free. The party was a huge success.
The Guru was simply fantastic! It's decorative interior is perfect for those wanting to get away from more traditional reception venues. Great price too!
We planned an 80th birthday party for my mother, and although it had to be canceled at the last moment due to local flooding, the staff of the Guru were absolutely wonderful to work with. Kay and Sydney are the best ever, and we will definitely go there when it's time to reschedule the party!
