Garibaldi opened in Savannah, GA in1980 after Garibaldi in Charleston, SC had been greatly successful for two years. Opening in the then deserted City Market area, Garibaldi Cafe was an instant sensation, bringing new life to the Historic District restaurant scene. 33 years later, Garibaldi's is still a leader in the marketplace. As the originator of the much imitated "Crispy Scored Flounder," Garibaldi has a long tradition of giving new flare to traditional 'low country cuisine'.
An enduring local favorite since 1980, Garibaldi remains a comfortable and familiar destination. For the past over twenty seven (27) years, Chef Gerald Green has created masterpieces that have become cornerstones in Savannah cuisine. His Veal Chop au Poivre and Lobster Rabini have established Chef Green as one of the finest chefs in Savannah. The entire staff shares his heartfelt conviction for freshness and the highest quality food possible. From the waitstaff to the chef everyone is eager to ensure you have a most memorable experience. Located in the heart of Savannah's historic City Market, Garibaldi is housed in the 1871 Germanian Fire House. Built in classic Palladian architecture, the building is a beautiful presence in the market area. In the fashion of the era, the firehouses were commonly community meeting places. Thus, the Germanian Society erected a Grand Ballroom on the second floor of the building. With sixteen foot ceilings, fourteen foot arched windows and vintage iron chandeliers, it is one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Savannah, seating up to 120 and complete with its own private bar. The main floor is a beautiful Victorian room with lavish gilt mirrors, original pressed tin ceiling, romantically illuminated with whimsical chandeliers. Garibaldi offers a variety of menus, and specializes in customizing menus to your specific needs.
