El Gato Gab Gab is a vibrant modern Mexican botanero (small-plates bar) nestled in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. Born from the Boxset Collective team known for Published on Main and Bar Susu, it blends creativity, West Coast freshness, and Mexican inspiration. The menu focuses on shareable snacks and tacos—think Dungeness Crab Tostadas, Suadero Brisket Tacos, and Beef Cheek Birria, paired with playful, agave-forward cocktails. It’s approachable yet inventive, inviting diners to relax and have fun over bold, flavour-packed food and drinks. The interior is a riot of teal and burnt orange, accented by gold, rattan, and rustic wood, designed to reflect the menu’s vibrant personality. Curated art, vintage mirrors, and subtle cat and luchador motifs nod to the restaurant’s cheeky name. Multiple chair styles evoke a hacienda vibe, while textured painted walls (in about 18 different hues) give a tactile, layered feel. The aim is a maximalist, colourful space that feels lively, relaxed, and fun, not polished or austere. The layout includes a rounded central bar surrounded by both communal and intimate seating. It seats approximately 75 diners, with a semi-private area for groups up to 15–24 people, and a bar offering direct engagement with the vibrant surroundings
