People Often Ask

Camp Pollock is a historic 11-acre former Scout camp located along the American River. It is managed by the Sacramento Valley Conservancy, a non-profit organization, as a community project. All rental fees are reinvested into maintaining the property to keep it open and safe for the public.
Rental rates are determined based on the specific areas reserved and the total number of guests, rather than an hourly rate. Monday through Thursday reservations are discounted, as well as multi-day rentals. Reservations and events can be scheduled to take place between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
As a no-host venue, all availability, terms, and bookings can be managed and reserved directly through the Sacramento Valley Conservancy's website booking calendar. All reservations are paid with a credit or debit card. When booking, you'll select your checkin & checkout times.
Cancelations are accepted up to 30 days prior to check-in to receive a partial refund, (less $100 booking fee and 25% rental fee) otherwise refunds will not be offered. If you need to postpone rather than cancel, contact us as soon as possible. In many cases we can transfer your reservation to a different date for free.
Yes, general liability insurance is required for all rentals. You can obtain this coverage through an extension of a homeowner's or company insurance policy, or purchase a policy through third-party providers such as The Event Helper. Proof of insurance must be provided before your event. Yes, a security deposit of $400 is held per reserved area of the property. This deposit is charged the week before your event and is fully refunded within two weeks, provided the space is left clean and undamaged.
SVC manages this rustic and natural 11-acre property with no public funding. It is one of more than seventy properties (and 18,000 acres) SVC manages. As such, Camp Pollock is a no-host venue and we do not provide an event coordinator. We pass along the savings to our renters and appreciate your reading through the information on our website before emailing us with questions. The first thing we recommend is to stop by and get a feel for the space. Camp Pollock is open to the public every day of the week from sunrise to sunset with free parking. If there is a private reservation booked on that day, we ask that you please be discrete and give the group their privacy. Otherwise, you are welcome to wander and peek through the windows. The rest of the property does remain open to the public during most reservations. The Myrtle Johnston Lodge at Camp Pollock is only open during select days and times. Lodge open house takes place once or twice per month, and dates are posted at sacramentovalleyconservancy.org/events. This is the best time to walk through the lodge, take photos, and ask questions. If certain days/times work well for you, you may email our staff to see if the next open house could be scheduled to meet your needs. Please remember reservations can only be booked online, and must be reserved a minimum of two weeks in advance. We do not have the capacity to give individual site visits. If you require access to the lodge to plan for an event, with enough notice we can sometimes accommodate, and charge $50 per hour to have a staff member on site to open and re-secure the lodge for you. For larger events that need to test sound, lighting and other equipment beforehand, we recommend adding an extra day to your reservation for planning and setup.
Basic rental fees: • $10 per person per day Friday-Sunday, $4 per person per day Monday-Thursday. This includes everyone (all guests, vendors, caterers, photographers, etc.) associated with your event who will be on the property. Babies in arms (under 1 years old) can be omitted. • $100 nonrefundable booking fee • $75 fee for a compliance review from the County (includes amplified sound, alcohol, camping, open to the public, charge to attend or sale of goods), our staff will obtain this permit for you • $600 special event fee if applicable, charged to all wedding, reception or large-scale events • $250 maintenance fee for the lodge ($125 per day for additional consecutive days booked) • $125 maintenance fee for the courtyard ($50 per additional consecutive day booked) • $100 maintenance fee for the lawn • $8 per camper per night (youth and outdoor educational group camping only) • $400 refundable cleaning deposit held per space. Camp Pollock is a no-host and leave no trace venue. Optional paid addons can be added to your reservation: • $200 Trash Haul • $200 Mopping & Restocking • $150 Outdoor Space Heaters (2) • $100 Lawn Games (giant jenga, cornhole, large connect 4) • $50 Canoe Bar • $50 Outdoor String Lights in the Courtyard
Yes, alcohol use and amplified sound are allowed, but they require prior approval during the reservation process. If you'll be selling alcohol or charging admission and then providing complimentary drinks, you will need to obtain an ABC permit. Yes, outside vendors are allowed (food, beverage, decor, entertainment, tables & chairs, DJ, etc). You will need to coordinate their services, access, drop off and pickups.
Depending on your budget and guest count, you can rent individual areas of the property, such as the indoor Lodge, the River Deck, the Courtyard, or the Event Lawn, or choose to combine multiple spaces for larger gatherings and more privacy. Only organized educational and youth groups are permitted to camp overnight on the lawn. No indoor lodging available, and no vehicle or RV camping in our area of the parkway. The river access trail is not rentable, and remains open to everyone from sunrise to sunset. Unless all 11 acres are rented for exclusive use, the parking lot is also open to the general public from sunrise to sunset.
10 rectangular tables 6-feet long and 70 folding chairs are available in the lodge for your event. The deck has a dozen 8-foot long movable benches. The courtyard has 9 picnic tables 8-feet long with attached benches. The event lawn has 5 picnic tables 6-feet long with attached benches. The lodge includes a kitchen prep/finishing space (fridge, freezer, sink, microwave, hot box warmer, coffee maker, and counter space). There is wifi in the lodge that reaches into the courtyard. The password is provided in your access email. There is no AV equipment available on site. Plan to bring your own projector, screen, speakers, and microphone if needed. Yes, the lodge has central heat and air, plus ceiling fans inside and on the deck. The lodge also has the original (and functional!) wood-burning stone fireplace.

Recommendations

Awesome venue with helpful staff — An Eventective User
We hosted my wife’s 80s themed birthday party here at the lodge and had a blast. The staff was very helpful and answered any questions we had promptly. The venue was beautiful with a usable fireplace and plenty of parking. The only thing to note would be there aren’t a whole lot of available plugs so bring extension cords :) overall price and location I would recommend the camp pollock venue
Beautiful place to have an event — An Eventective User
Booking was smooth and the event space was so well kept with beautiful surroundings. Will definitely use this venue again!
Woodsy cabin feel — An Eventective User
1st birthday party, it was themed winter onederland and the lodge was perfect. Large fireplace and very much a cabin feel. Deck was a nice area for more guest to enjoy. I truly would recommend this location for large family gatherings and your special event. The grounds keeper was very helpful. But, please be cautious as there are a few homeless camps (hidden away) and one person did come to your area. Seemed harmless, but we contacted the grounds keeper and he handled it and contacted park rangers for us. Other than the slight interruption all went well. All our guest enjoyed themselves as did my family.
