About The Historic Swoop-Duggins House

This beautiful 1850's building is on the National Registry of Historic Houses. Located in the CBD it is a short walk to many national and boutique hotels, a 10 minute walk to the French Quarter, a 15 minute walk to the convention center and minutes from the Superdome, . The large courtyard attached to the main floor dining area, also connects to the 2nd floor private bar, parlor and iconically New Orleans' Gallery Balcony. Aside from the interior dining options, the balcony and courtyard can be incorporated into a large event or utilized exclusively for a smaller private reception or dinner. We pride ourselves in our scratch cooked, farm fresh catering menu that offers both New Orleans Classics and modern fare. A venue buyout for both the main floor restaurant venue and the second floor balcony venue is available. 2-3 hour Food and beverage packages range from $50/person - $120/person. Cocktail social hours are also welcome in the main bar without requiring a private booking. All-inclusive bar packages, hosted consumption tabs and cash bar options are available depending on guest count. Perfect Welcome Party - An Eventective User from New Orleans

We hosted the welcome party for our wedding at the Historic Swoop-Duggins House, and I cannot recommend this venue enough! Our group was about 60 people, and we opted for the open bar and passed hors d'oeuvres options. Linda, the owner, was easy to work with and very accommodating to our needs. The effort needed to plan here was minimal. We just told Linda what we needed and showed up for a spectacular evening. There is really no need to bring in outside vendors for decorating because the venue is already beautiful as is. Linda has made recent renovations to the space and it is gorgeous, especially the bar area. All of our guests had nothing but great things to say about the space, the drinks, and the food. There was more than enough to go around, and the staff was very attentive. The bartender working the evening of our event was incredible and made spectacular dirty martinis that everyone was obsessed with. Planning a wedding and bringing in so many out-of-town guests is already stressful enough. Linda and the rest of the staff at Swoop-Duggins house really took the burden off of us by making sure everything went smoothly for our welcome party and gave our guests a sweet taste of New Orleans hospitality in the process.

Linda and her team are AMAZING!! We had the most beautiful wedding at Swoops! Chef Lisa created a delicious menu tailored to our needs. Linda went above and beyond to give us the wedding we envisioned. Linda also took our photos, and they are gorgeous! The venu is gorgeous and has that classic NOLA vibe. I cannot recommend Swoops enough. We tell everyone what a truly amazing experience we had with Linda and Chef Lisa.

Wonderful Place for Small Wedding Reception - An Eventective User from Edmond, OK

This was a beautiful venue for our daughter's small destination wedding reception. Linda is a creative professional who understands every aspect of hosting a great event. She has high expectations which made it easy for me to make food and cocktail decisions. Her chef and staff are wonderful. The historic house was the perfect place to experience a real historical NOLA vibe. Guests are still commenting on the beautiful spaces and delicious food as well as the crafted signature cocktails! A great place for photos, too. Linda has suggestions for other venders you may need as well. We used Nick J Florist (next door) who is totally wonderful too! There are many hotels within walking distance...our guests stayed at the Hyatt House so they easily walked home at the end of the night with visions of the grand chandelier still dancing in their heads, lol. The CBC district is amazing and Swoop-Duggins is a hidden gem.

Rehearsal Dinner - An Eventective User

Our son’s destination wedding was in New Orleans this past weekend. Had the rehearsal dinner at Swoop Duggins and could not be more pleased. Everything was lovely, the staff was professional and personable. The food was delicious! The pork tenderloin was moist and flavorful, as was the Cornish game hen. But the bacon wrapped dates stuffed with Gorgonzola were to die for. Linda Novak made everything easy and painless. The space is a perfect New Orleans vibe, historic and a bit moody. Perfect for an intimate gathering of 30. Thank you Swoop Duggins, everyone who attended loved it all.

Corporate Dinner - An Eventective User from Indianapolis, IN

As a corporate event planner, this venue was an amazing find! I had a dinner pop-up weeks before a huge conference NOLA and needed a venue to host 40 guests. I called Linda and she was amazing throughout the whole planning process! She worked in my group during a busy weekend which was a huge relief. When we got onsite, the staff was so friendly and helpful. Guests were very impressed with the space and food. If you are planning an event in New Orleans, call Linda!

Gorgeous event space in New Orleans! - An Eventective User from Boston

Can't recommend the Swoop-Duggins enough! This place was absolutely gorgeous, the staff super friendly and so helpful. My husband and I had our welcome party leading to our wedding here. Linda ensured that everything went smoothly and went above and beyond to ensure that all our requests were met. The place is gorgeous and perfect for pictures. My favorite is the Bar. The cocktails were soooo good! The food was also incredible. If you are planning to host an event, do not look further. This is the place!

Linda and her staff went above and beyond for my wedding day. Communication was never a problem during the entire process. Responses to my questions were given within 24 hours unless communicated by her beforehand when she will be out of service. We had a small problem come about and she went ABOVE AND BEYOND TO FIX IT. Adding services to our package at no charge. You can’t ask for more then someone who genuinely cares in that way! I was amazed at the set up when I showed up day of. The rooms are beautiful themselves however they added extra details which made it all come together. The food Is delicious and was displayed at such an elegant fashion. The drinks were top shelf. I went in with no expectations due to being out of town and not knowing how this venue operates but was taken back from the moment I stepped in. Honestly, I have nothing but great things to say about this venue. If you feel lead to step out and do a non traditional wedding you won’t be disappointed. I will suggest keeping the guest list at about 60-70. It was perfect for us but, anymore and we would have felt on top of each other. If your looking for a small intimate New Orleans style wedding I recommend The Starlight Lounge!

A great venue to host a reception - An Eventective User

We held a reception at the Starlight on Saturday October 26th. Linda Novak was great to work with. Since I do not live in New Orleans, I had to discuss my plans and work through the details with Linda via phone calls and email. She was great to work with and made everything happen very smoothly. Jenny was assigned to manage and bar tend our event. She did an exceptional job. I was concerned about and kept checking on the details, but Jenny and Linda were way ahead of me. They communicated and worked with our caterers beautifully. Our guests were all impressed with the quaint Creole feel. I believe we hosted approximately 60 - 70 very comfortably. Thanks to Linda and Jenny for an exceptional event !!

Welcome Party for a 60th Birthday celebration - An Eventective User from Savannah , Ga

Had a cocktail party here for a friends 60th Birthday. Not only was it quintessential New Orleans...we had all been there numerous times when it was Petunias...but Linda and the staff were incredible! Our guests had a great time and the only reason we did not carry the night out there was because it was booked for another event right behind us. Great experience and we are so happy to have chosen the Starlight to welcome all of our friends the NOLA. Wow! Can’t say enough.

The venue is stunning! It is the perfect location if you are looking for somewhere with character and a bit of New Orleans charm. Linda and Tyler were both amazing and very accommodating to specific requests and last minute changes. The staff at this location go above and beyond. Definitely recommend this venue for an event!

Perfect for Small, Intimate Wedding Ceremony! - An Eventective User

Fantastic experience and exactly what we were looking for with a small group (8 people total). The staff was on-time, knowledgeable about paperwork, and always communicated back with us. The location was amazing- right off the French Quarter- and had some great photo opportunities. We included hors d'oeuvres and a cake and they both exceeded our expectations. Absolutely would recommend Starlight for couples seeking the "vibe" of New Orleans but on a small, intimate scale!

The Starlight is pure magic. The venue is stunning, enough old charm reminiscent of New Orleans. The venue exudes sexy coziness that evokes natural and easy conversation. The acoustics are great, so you don't have to scream to be heard, which makes ifor comfortable conversations. The passed appetizers were special and hot, and the downstairs bar is the perfect French Quarter place to enjoy an event. Every room, on both floors sets a mood and promote comfort and mingling. The host, Linda Novak, has a terrific sense of what works and she takes great care to oversee and make sure the guests and hosts have what they need for a perfect event.
