For my birthday this year, I decided that I wanted something scrumptious and delicious enough for everyone to enjoy. Beef is definitely a Chicago thing, just like deep dish pizza. So to be a little more loyal to my Chicagoan roots, I went for the classics: Italian beef and hot dogs (Chicago style). I had to pay a little extra for the bread for the beef but it was worth it. They package the beef and gravy separately so that the beef remains savory. The hot dogs come with their garnish and buns: mustard, relish, onion, tomato, kosher pickles, sport peppers, and their special hot dog seasoning (their buns are poppy seed). Not only was the food already pre-cooked (for convenience and health reasons of course) but heating the food up is not only easy but guarantees the exact flavor that one would get if they dined at Portillo's. My guests raved about the food and couldn’t believe that it was re-heated and not fresh from the stove! Their prices are very reasonable and not only do they offer pickup but they can deliver your delicious food as well. If you are planning a party in a hurry and the date is looming, Portillo’s only requires a 3-4 day notice for catering. Now that’s what I consider the greatest part of convenience. Payment is required at time of pick-up which is also very nice in case you are waiting on a paycheck but still want to get your party jitters out. Portillo’s is perfect: perfect price, perfect food, and perfect type of convenience.
