About Hotel Phillips
Established in 1931 by Mr. Charles E. Phillips, a long-time Kansas City hotel and apartment builder, the Hotel was once the tallest building in town, standing 20 stories high, and the first hotel in Kansas City to have radios in each guest room. This location was also a haberdashery operated by President Harry S. Truman, which is the inspiration for our Truman suite on the top floor. Full of European influenced Art Deco opulence, it was the place to see and be seen, and began our tradition of top tier hospitality in Kansas City. Throughout the years, and even today Hotel Phillips has housed many dignitaries, and celebrities from Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Tina Turner, to The Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney, and LeBron James. In 2017 Hotel Phillips became part of the Curio Collection by Hilton including a transformation to include luxury guest rooms, wedding venue, modern meeting spaces, Tavernonna Italian Kitchen, and P.S. (a speakeasy).

Beautiful but broken up - An Eventective User

I attended a wedding here a few months ago. First, the hotel itself is gorgeous. It's all very modern art deco and makes you feel like you're in an old hotel somewhere great like NY or Chicago. It's located downtown, not far from the P&L district which is great for those that want to go out on the town. The wedding itself was stunning. They rented out the entire mezzanine level. The ballroom was gorgeous and I'm sure it was beautiful even without all the decorations. It was very romantic feeling. The food was good. They had a pasta station that was a big hit. My only issue was spacing. This wedding had over 200 people so they spilled out of the ballroom and into some of the smaller rooms on the same level. It was fine but it felt a little disjointed.

The staff at Hotel Phillips made my wedding day stress free. I simply had to drop off my decorations and they put everything together for me. The food was delicious. Their pasta station was a huge hit and everyone is STILL talking about it. It all had a very classy, elegant touch and the hotel is so beautiful on it's own that it really doesn't need much extra
