My friend from college got married last fall at the Melia Hotel Atlanta. It was my first trip to the great state of Georgia and it was not at all what I was expecting it to be. The Meiia Hotel was beautiful. The hotel itself looked amazing. I have never been to a classier hotel. They had wonderful amenities from a spa and a pool and hot tub to a restaurant and a bar and also a store. The rooms that we stayed in were offered to us at a discount which was great because they are very expensive rooms. It was nice to be able to stay at the same hotel that the wedding reception and ceremony were being held at. The happy couple raved about how all the things that they needed to make their big day special was taken care of by great vendors who use the hotel frequently. From the flowers and food to the people that did our hair they all knew how to make a wedding at this hotel fabulous. There was plenty of room for all the guests and there were at least two-hundred in attendance Any questions or problems that we had for the hotel staff they were able to help us and really seemed happy to help in any way that they could. The food was fantastic, and the grounds were amazing. There was a band and a dance floor and a roof that had a great view and you could drink and socialize with others up there. I would highly recommend this venue if you are planning a wedding in the Atlanta area.

The room was very pretty, but it just as easily could have been a venue hall anywhere and you can easily see the seams where they tried to cover it up with the wedding apparel. The bride, however, was nothing but ecstatic with the decoration. I will have to say that while booking and scheduling the staff was wonderfully nice and went out of their way to make my party convenient. The most extravagant and wonderful thing by far though, was the amazing view. As the sun set on the reception, several guests stopped to gaze for a few moments that I saw. It only added to the ambiance of the room and the crowd of people. While the sun was setting it made for a very romantic lighting, which the bride and groom loved. Another area of convenience was the inclusion of a significant discount of 15% to the bride and groom in obtaining the honeymoon suite at the Media hotel, which I hear was to their liking. I would hold another event there, but only if given a substantial decorating budget to make the room feel less sterile. This is not a place for a minimalist approach, which is sad because the large floor to ceiling windows are the best feature.

The Solarium is an historic event facility located in the Oakhurst neighborhood of Decatur, Georgia, convenient to public transportation, I-285 and I-20. We can accommodate approximately 150 guests indoors for a buffet reception, and about 200 for a standing, cocktail-type reception. We also have outdoor space that may be utilized for a ceremony and reception. Rather than packages or in-house vendors, we offer our clients the opportunity to select all their own vendors, including catering, entertainment, and decor; clients may also bring in their own alcohol. Our clients or their designee are responsible for pre-event setup and decoration and for post-event equipment breakdown and facility cleanup. We offer free on-street and off-street parking, and the Solarium is fully accessible for our disabled guests.
