Unique and intimate, Gallery Black Lagoon is a Contemporary Art Gallery & Event Space located in the Central Austin Hyde Park Neighborhood. The gallery’s monthly art exhibitions add a very cool artistic element to any private event.
With 1750 sq ft, Capacity is 150 people standing. The space also works well for a setup of 50 to 70 people at tables with room for a cocktail lounge or dance floor.
Located in the Hyde Park Historic District, just north of downtown Austin. We have plenty of FREE PARKING for over 70 guests.

*No Discounts on Holiday Dates – $1200 for a 5 hour rental (5 hour minimum), $200 for each extra hour.

10% off select Jan-February Fri/Sat Dates Booked by January 3rd! (Discounted dates: Jan. 11, 12, 25, 26, Feb. 1, 2, 9)
Friday & Saturday: $850 for 5 Hour Rental
Sunday: $650 for 5 Hour Rental
Monday – Thursday: $550 for 5 Hour Rental
Add on additional hours: $150 per hour Friday or Saturday, $125 Sunday-Thursday
*A $100 refundable security deposit (returned after event) is also needed.
Bring in your own Alcohol:
We do not allow any underage drinking. Clients may bring in alcoholic beverages to be served to attendees that will be complimentary, at no cost to guests. You are free to provide your own alcohol to be served by a Gallery Black Lagoon TABC certified bartender or your own. The gallery will provide a BARTENDER to serve your complimentary drinks & setup/breakdown bar for $22 an hour (30 min. for setup & 30 min. breakdown). With our bartending services the gallery will provide: a High Bar Table & Linen, 1 Storage Cooler, 1 Serving Ice Bin, Shakers, Strainers, Jiggers, Bottle Openers, Wine Keys, Pour Spouts, Cutting Board, Knife, Ice Scoops.
*ANY SALE of liquor, beer, or wine must be covered by OUR Catering Permit & Company (this does not apply to food). We have a Beverage Catering License and would be able to setup a cash bar during your event: $100 to pull the catering permit, $22 an hour for a bartender, and a $300-$500 bar minimum (Refundable Security Deposit increases to $150 in case bar minimum is not met). Clients must use our company to setup a cash bar.

The $100.00 refundable security deposit (included in the total payment)is due and payable no later than thirty days prior to the event. It is agreed that any additional charges incurred during the function will be deducted from this deposit prior to refund to the contracting party. The security deposit will not be returned if additional hours are needed for event time, including setup and breakdown ($150 per extra hour), or if there are any damages to the property or artwork inside or outside of the building. All personal belongings and equipment must be removed from the property during the scheduled event time/breakdown time. The security deposit will be mailed in the form of a check to the contracting clients within 2 weeks after the contracted event has taken place. If damages or fees exceed the $100 security deposit, the contracting party will be held liable. Gallery Black Lagoon will have the right to request additional money to cover cleaning, repairs, and damaged or stolen items or artwork.
Cleaning Charge/Indemnification The contracting party will remove personal property and not cause or allow any damage to the artwork on display, facility or grounds. Cleaning Service to take care of breakdown and cleanup is included in rental price (taking out garbage, sweeping, mopping, breaking down tables and chairs). Contracting party agrees that if its guests, invitees or participants cause any damage to the facility, artwork, equipment or furniture, contracting party is liable for all extraordinary cleaning charges, and all such damage, and shall hold harmless Gallery Black Lagoon there from. The contracting party agrees that the cost of all cleaning charges, storage costs, and damages may be deducted from the security deposit, and if the security deposit is insufficient, contracting party is liable for deficiency.
Alcohol Any sale of liquor must be covered by the Gallery’s liquor license. We allow absolutely no underage drinking. Contracting party has requested to bring in their own Alcoholic beverages. Because drinks will not be sold, no catering license or permit is needed. If any of these factors change, a catering permit may be required. Contracting Party agrees to follow all TABC regulations for serving Alcohol to the general public & attendees of their event at Gallery Black Lagoon: http://www.tabc.state.tx.us/faq/general.asp
Smoking There is absolutely no smoking allowed inside the building. There is an area outside provided for those who wish to smoke.
Decorations The use of push pins, thumb tacks, and masking tape for decorating are permitted. The use of nails, staples, or screws are prohibited and shall not be affixed to the interior or exterior of the facility or parking area. The use of confetti, glitter, sequins, rice or bird seed is prohibited in the building or on the grounds. (2) No alterations of any kind or type shall be made.
Cancellations: All cancellations are to be received in writing. In the event that a client should cancel this contract within 72 hours of signing the contract, CONTRACTING PARTY agrees to pay Gallery Black Lagoon a one hundred dollar ($100) administration fee to be deducted from the client’s deposit. If the facility cancels the contract within the first 72 hours, then the clients deposit will be fully refunded. If written notice is received 90 (or more) business days prior to the event rental date, a two hundred dollar ($200) administration fee will be deducted from the client’s deposit, thereafter; 60 business days prior notice will result in a cancellation charge equal to 50% of the total estimated invoice balance, based on contracted specifications; 30 days prior notice will result in a cancellation charge equal to 75% of the total estimated invoice balance, based on contracted specification; less than 29 days prior notice will result in a cancellation charge equal to 100% of the total estimated invoice balance, based on contracted specifications. |
