Hyatt Regency New Orleans is undergoing a multi-million dollar redevelopment in preparation for its opening in Fall 2011. The hotel will open with 1,193 guest rooms, expanded meeting and exhibition space to more than 200,000 square feet - doubling the existing space, and seven venues for dining and entertaining. Offering a new level of service and facilities, the hotel is designed to be a one-stop shop for meeting planners and guests. Situated in the heart of a bustling sports and entertainment district, the hotel will be open for business in time for the numerous exciting events that will be happening in New Orleans over the next few years, including the 2013 Super Bowl. The hotel will be the centerpiece for the sports and entertainment district adjacent to the newly opened Champions Square and the Superdome as well as the new $2 billion medical district. First opened in 1976, the hotel became one of the most visual representations of Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath. The reopening is a significant part of the restoration and revitalization of New Orleans, as well as part of a larger economic development plan. It will be one of the most significant hospitality developments to open in New Orleans in over a decade.
