"Great Place to Have a Good Time", An Eventective User from Chicago, Illinois
I recently had the pleasure of having my wedding reception at Southshore Cultural Center. Before the reception, I really knew nothing more than it existed on the southside of Chicago. But, thanks to my sister-in-law, I found a diamond in the rough..for sure. The Southshore Culture Center is tucked deep into the southside of Chicago on 71st and Exchange, a street rarely even heard about, but it certainly is a gem. The grounds are beautiful and wonderfully kept, with the backdrop of the lake across the way. I had a wonderful time in this beautiful place full of wondrous chandeliers, glass and artistry. I had wondered why I had never seen this place before, and then it hit me- I had no clue the southside had such culture. I was wrong. The culture center is close to Jackson Park where golfing, boating and good times seem to be present all the time. It was just a winning situation for us. Our reception went well, the price was affordable and the food was great. The staff was really nice, and I would even go so far as saying they were the nicest I've seen giving a public service. I would highly recommend anyone to have a reception at the Southshore Culture Center not only if you are on the southside of Chicago, but anywhere. You will be amazed at what you get for such an affordable price. It is owned by the Chicago Park District, so you'll be helping the city as well. I can't wait for my next big shing ding, I am going right to the Southshore Culture Center. I want an encore.

"You Won't Find a More Gorgeous or Affordable Venue in Chicago", An Eventective User from Chicago, Illinois
If you're planning a wedding on a budget but still want to get married in a gorgeous, lavish setting, consider a wedding at the Chicago Cultural Center. On select Saturdays, the Marriage Court of Cook County performs civil ceremonies for just 10 dollars! While the process is rather quick and you don't have much time to linger with friends and family, the setting is incredibly beautiful and historic.

If you're interested in holding your wedding ceremony at the Chicago Cultural Center, you must first register at the Cook County Marriage Court. (Do so at least a month in advance, as the Saturday Ceremonies are popular and spaces fill up quickly.) Best of all, when your ceremony is over, you can walk across the street to Grant Park for fabulous photo opportunities!

If you're wanting a huge ceremony with an equally large guest list, the Saturday Ceremonies at the Chicago Cultural Center are probably not for you. However, if you want an inexpensive ceremony with your closest friends and family and want to save a ton of cash, this is the way to do it! You can go out to eat at a fancy, upscale restaurant with all the money you save on the ceremony. (We went to one of the top-rated sushi restaurants in Chicago afterwards and had a blast!)

Though you will be gathered with other couples while you wait for your ceremony, the ceremony itself is private. Best of all, when you and your spouse come out of the room as a newly married couple, everyone cheers and claps for you! While some think it's on par with Vegas, I have to say that it's a little more special. The Chicago Cultural Center was the perfect setting for the best day of my life.

"Great Location, Steps from the Lake", An Eventective User from chicago, illinois
The South Shore Cultural Center is located on the southside of Chicago near major expressways, including lake shore drive. It is also located near public transportation for nondrivers. If you are looking to have your next conference, choose South Shore Cultural Center. It's not very expensive, however it will truly impress. There are conference rooms to have your meeting, and if you wish to have brunch, there is a dining area as well. I work for a major communications company in Chicago, and we had our last meeting there. It was around the holidays, and the place was lit up like a Christmas tree. There is wonderful lighting and fabulous artwork available to view. I really enjoyed the meeting, even though it was with some of the most important of our contracts, and normally it can be pretty hectic. As a media tech, my job was only to deal with making sure presentations went off without a hitch, however make no mistake, I definitely go to see how wonderful this venue was.

""A Hidden Gem"", verlinia from Chicago, Illinois
After skimpimg on our wedding, we decided to have an elegant reception. We chose SouthShore Cultural Center because it was close to home. However, we were pleasantly surprised- it was beautiful, the inside was as elegant as the private venues we had visited. It was affordable, as it is ran by Chicago Park District. Also, it was such a wonderful day out, we decided to take a walk outdoors. It is steps from the lake, and lots of green space. The children even had a great time, as they were able to play outdoors. There was plenty of parking and the location is very accessible. South Shore Cultural Center is a hidden gem on the Southside of Chicago.
