The Columbia theatre was originally built in 1927 as movie theatre and has gone through many incarnations since. In 2011 Barry Buckland took possession of the theatre and has completely restored it to it's original glory. The main theatre has been converted into a cabaret style show room with table groupings on four levels. The stage has been moved back to its original position, allowing seating for 300 people. There is full sized cinema screen in the main theatre as well as a projection system. There is a full sound system/lighting system in the theatre and the acoustics are amazing. The upstairs theatre has been converted to a show lounge and seats 200 people. The theatre has an elevator and is wheel chair accessible. Both venues are licensed and serve food. Catering is also available through the theatre. The theatre is a 3 minute walk from the Columbia Skytrain station so is very accessible via transit.
This theatre can accommodate a variety of functions such as concerts, dances, dinner theatre, corporate events, charity fundraisers, meetings, wrap parties, private screenings, film festivals, weddings, banquets and other private functions.
