No other medium makes me feel that way. For me there is an excruciating moment of assertion in pushing the button. It's a dramatic moment of choice. In that choice you expose everything about who you are and what you feel. A photograph is a record of human spirit. The photographer can be from another time, place and language - but you feel them. That to me is something worth doing."Johwanna completed an apprenticeship in practical arts specializing in photographic archives. "I stood in the dark for five years for the City of Edmonton printing out its history from a lifetime of glass plate negatives." She left to pursue her own work because people can't live in the dark. She’s had her own studio since 1995.Johwanna is a compelling teacher too, and often helps out at North American events making connections between Photography and business.
