Their Story
Love you: then, now, and always
Brenda Joyce Butt: September 23, 1951 - December 7, 2024
Patrick Floyd Butt: April 18, 1950 - December 7, 2024

Born in Port Aux Basques and St John’s, Pat and Brenda were the children of the late Garland and Evelyn (Chaisson) Butt and Jack and Alma (Williams) Elms. Pat was predeceased by his three brothers, Wilson and Dave Butt, and Nathan Coffin. Pat and Brenda leave to mourn their many beautiful friends and family members. They will forever remain in the hearts of Pat’s sister, Lorna Carmichael (Merrill), and brother, Peter Atwood (Marg); Brenda’s brother, David Elms (Barbara), and sisters, Donna Elms (Paul) and Judy Elms (Gerald); as well as children, Lori Dicks (Gord), Patti-Lynn Butler, D. Glen Butt (Pascale) and Christopher Butt (Stephanie); as well as seven beautiful and blessed grandchildren, Megan Dicks (Danny), Gillian and Brooklyn Dicks, and Sarah, Samantha, Liam, and Logan Butler, plus a large circle of community and friends. A very special thank you to their caretakers and staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital (DECH) for their loving care given to them both. Pat worked for 32 years as an electrician with Marine Atlantic while Brenda managed various small businesses (Pizza Delight, Petro Can, etc) and retired as a phlebotomist at the DECH in Fredericton.

They both lived their lives together to the fullest and loved their nightly routine of Tea and Crib. Dad’s famous words when anyone visited were, “Care for a game of Crib”, while mother’s frequent words were, “would you like a tea.”

Pat and Brenda loved spending time at their cabin in Crabbes River.

Thank you, Mom and Dad, for all you have done for us children, family, and loved ones.

From the Mayor

Today we had the sad news on the passing of two wonderful people Pat and Brenda Butt. Pat & Brenda were a big part of our community in business and volunteers. In retirement they moved to spend time with family but they always maintained their connection and passion to our community. I would often hear of Pat thinking about our community and talking to people back home. In 1993 we both were elected to council for the very first time. I was young and luckily surrounded by many great people. Pat was very passionate about the community and brought issues to the table with respect, dignity, experience, and foresight. I learned a lot in my couple terms on council with Pat. He was a true family man who loved his family first and would do anything for them. That same love he applied to our beautiful community. I remember when he would raise an issue, he used his time to express his thoughts and didn’t wavier if he believed in what he was saying. As I continue to serve, I am thankful for the knowledge, experience, and friendship that was shared with me in my earlier years from my dear friend Pat. Over the years they both volunteered where they could and Brenda enjoyed teaching Line Dancing at the Legion. Also, they both were also known for being in business, who can forget make the good times right at Pizza Delight. Then there was Pat’s hockey days, he was a tough player himself and coached the same way. He coached a lot years through minor hockey and onto Senior with the beloved PAB Mariners. Volunteers are what makes a community, what shapes a community and what makes a community home. Both Pat and Brenda gave a lot of their time to make our community a great place. On behalf of myself, my fellow council members today, and in the past, we want to express our deepest sympathies to the entire family at this very difficult time and thank you for allowing us all to have your beloved family members Pat and Brenda be a part of ours.

And why does it taste just like Pizza Delight's salad??) :) There will also be a memorial table and photo area for pictures as well a power point with some 1500+ pictures with music.
