Alpha Orchestra, the premier Greek American ensemble has performed for the
past 20 years for outstanding organizations such as, The leadership 100, The
Order of AHEPA, HANAC, The Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce, The
Hellenic Times Scholarship Fund, NJ Cancer Research Foundation, The Greek
Children’s Fund, Athens College, The Hellenic Medical Society, NJ Chamber of
Commerce, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Nassau County Bar Association, The Hellenic
lawyers association, and as well as for many fundraisers, church and
organizational dances, corporate events and holiday celebrations throughout
North and South America and Europe.
Hailed by Billboard as "a singer's singer," Alpha’s award-winning singer Liz
Queler has written and performed everything from jazz standards to jingles.
A winner of top songwriting awards from Billboard and the National Academy of
Popular Music, Liz, most recently, was commissioned to write a theme song for
the United Nations Population Fund featuring, Odetta and the Children's Aid
Alpha’s singer, Thanos Tziovas, started his as a professional career at the age of 19, touring different cities in Greece, performing alongside several of Greece's biggest stars, such as Kourkoulis, Panos Kiamos, Karras, Melas, Cristos Dantis, Tsaliki, Kostopoulos and Paola.
At 23, Thanos moved to New York City to continue his career and team up with many Greek artists including Yiannis Ploutarxos, Anzela Dimitriou, Marios Frangkoulis, Stelios Dionysiou, Valantis, Kalomira, Katerina Topazi, Diamantis Dionisiou, and Evdokia.
Alpha’s musicians have played for a long list of artists such as Stratos Dionisiou,
Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme, , The Temptations, Manolis Angelopoulos,
Bernadette Peters, Cab Calloway, Yiannis Poulopoulos, Jerry Lewis, Robert Goulet, Stamatis Kokotas, Jerry Vale, Bobby Vinton, Engelbert Humperdink, JohnnyMathis and many others, as well as in the pit orchestras of Broadway musicals, such as Cats, A Chorus Line, Crazy For You, 42nd Street, Dream Girls, Miss Saigon, Chicago, Beauty and the Beast, Gypsy, Fosse and Jersey Boys plus have performed in popular NYC Greek night clubs like the Grecian Cave, Asteria, Sirocco, Fantasia and Zodiac.
