Twice a month, my school holds a conference meeting for staff. It lasts three hours and gives students a half day, so they don’t mind. After trying a few different vendors for catering, we eventually decided to give Panera Bread a try. The Merrillville location is only a few miles from our school and when we called about an order, they were extremely helpful. The manager suggested looking at the website for our options, and we ordered an entire spread of bagels, pastries and coffee. We picked the catering up and it was packaged and ready for us. I saw the coffee in large paper cartons, and was a little apprehensive about it. But the bagels were all cut and toasted, and the pastries carefully wrapped. When we got back to the school and laid everything out, it covered an entire table and looked delicious. Everyone dove into the coffee, which tasted perfectly fine in the cartons. The bagels were great and we had a dozen of the Asiago cheese, blueberry, plain, cinnamon crunch and French toast. All tasted great. The cheese and cinnamon didn’t even need cream cheese; they tasted fine on their own. The pastries were gooey and terrible for you, exactly how pastries should be. People attacked those more than the bagels. By the time we were finished, we had plenty left over. We had ordered catering for three dozen people and still had plenty left over, and no one was skipping a meal. Some people even had thirds. Panera Bread is a great place for catering!
