Thompson Barn (formerly Lenexa Conference Center) is the city’s newest and most technologically advanced event facility. What was once a barn located on the historic Lackman-Thompson Estate, Thompson Barn has been transformed over the years to become the perfect venue for weddings and receptions, parties, business meetings and other gatherings. facility can accommodate groups of up to 200 people. Private use of the entire facility includes the main hall, three downstairs meeting rooms, outside patio, kitchen and the glass foyer. Tables, chairs and set up are included in the rental fee at no additional charge. All reservations require advance planning and notice, and reservations must be made in person at the Lenexa Community Center.

A great site for a relaxed reception. - An Eventective User from Lenexa, KS

I had my wedding at the Lenexa Conference Center, which used to be a historic barn, but has been converted into a fairly high-tech meeting and conference space. The large room where we had our reception had a great homey feel with a high ceiling and exposed brick but was upgraded with a large screen and a sound system. The room was fairly sizeable (I think it could hold just a bit more than 100 with tables and everything) but still managed to have a cozy feel that I really liked. The price was very affordable and the venue was flexible in terms of which other vendors I could use at their location--there is nothing actually included in the space rental besides the space itself, but I preferred it this way as I had some fairly nontraditional vendors in mind. As it is a city property, we did have to have a security guard in order to serve alcohol, but they provided a list of available guards and that process was fairly painless as well. They were always very friendly and helpful and had a great staff member on site to help me on the day of the event. They even allowed me to come back and look at the location a few times so I could make a plan for setting up the floor plan. This would not be the ideal place for a big, extravagant wedding reception, but it was just perfect for my close friends and family and I received a large number of compliments about the location.
