About Castle McCulloch

Castle McCulloch was built in 1832 by a Cornish engineer by the name of Charles McCulloch. Charles brought the invention of the steam engine to Jamestown, North Carolina after it revolutionized in England. He then constructed a gold refinery, McCulloch Gold Mill, which would operate continuously for over thirty years. Totally rebuilt and modernized, the facility reopened as Castle McCulloch and is beautifully surrounded by seventy acres of wooded grounds, the castle’s massive solid granite walls, drawbridge, multiple moats and stone tower are all reminiscent of the noble medieval era. The interior decor is complete with wrought iron chandeliers, a cathedral ceiling, tapestries, and leaded glass windows. Outside of the crystal garden, guests will be able to stroll along an elevated verandah or out onto the cement footpaths to enjoy the stunning views across the valley and our immaculately landscaped grounds. The hillside terrace, which is seasonally tented, provides a secluded area perfect for outdoor meetings and special occasions.

Fairytale wedding - An Eventective User from WINSTON SALEM, NC

I got married Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Castle McCulloch. It was amazing! It was everything that I could hope and dream about. The staff was helpful ( Ashley, Paulette, Stephanie, Stacy, just to name a few) were very supportive, patient, and helpful throughout the entire process. Pricing definitely fit our tight budget. I would recommend this venue to anyone & everyone who wants to have a memorable event. Thanks so much everyone!

Beautiful Wedding - An Eventective User from Burlington, NC

We had a beautiful wedding in the Great Hall on 6/11/22. Samantha and Hannah were our venue managers that day. These 2 young ladies went far beyond my expectations, both were friendly, fun and extremely helpful. The Castle McCulloch is a beautiful setting for a wedding, and the pictures look like something out of a fairytale. It's the perfect setting to be princess or queen for a day.

Wonderfully romantic - An Eventective User from Jamestown, NC

I used to visit Castle McCulloch as a kid and always enjoyed the beauty of the site. Castle McCulloch is one of the most sought after venues in the area, and with good reason. We chose to rent out both the castle and the Crystal Gardens for our wedding. You can tell the staff knew the drill very well. They knew the approximate set up times, when to tell each service (caterer, florist, band, etc.) to show up to set up, and best of all, they were able to recommend a coordinator for all of this. We chose to have the wedding in the evening and the staff made sure all of the outdoor lighting on the castle and the bridges were on. Purely romantic!

Wedding Location - An Eventective User from Greensboro, NC

Me and my husband celebrated our wedding ceremony at Castle McCulloch and where completely overwhelmed with the great service that was provided for us. The staff was available during the whole planning process of the wedding to help me with what I needed. Our wedding ceramony and reception where both in the crystal garden which looks over the castle, and is a large room with glass all around so that you can take in all of your surroundings. Castle McCulloch is also host wedding shows every four months which are free for the brides and offer food tastings and other also other wedding vendors are their to help make the planning process run much smoother. The day of our wedding ran very smoothly with the help of the staff who had the place looking absolutely wonderful so that we could just sit back and enjoy the day instead of stressing so much about what needed to be done. Since we used the same room for the ceremony, dinner, and reception chairs and tables needed to be moved which also with the help of the staff was absolutely flawless. All in all the wedding was a complete success and we could not have been any happier with the way the whole evening turned out. After we chose Castle McCulluch for are venue everything else just fell right into place. I would highly recommend to any bride to be using Castle McCulloch, which along with the great staff to help the price was very good as far as weddings are concerned.
