Ten Strings and a Bow - Cello and Guitar Duo - Courtenay

Courtenay, BC
I love bringing the elegance and beauty of the cello to the special events in people’s lives, especially weddings! A diverse range of music is at my fingertips from traditional favorites such as Pachelbel’s Canon and Beethoven's Ode to Joy, to Standards like “What a Wonderful World”, “Blue Moon”, to Celtic Music such as "Down by the Sally Gardens", "Greensleeves", "Scarborough Fair", to contemporary songs such as, “In My Life” and other Beatles classics, “From This Moment” by Shania Twain, “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder. I like to meet with you personally and communicate closely with you until you feel we've chosen the perfect musical selections for your special day. As a classically trained musician, trained at the Royal College of Music in London, England, I have tremendous versatility. I have played professionally in the UK, US and on Vancouver Island for the past 25 years in a variety of ensembles and a multitude of venues from The Royal Albert Hall in London, The Railway Club in Vancouver, The Port Theatre in Nanaimo to Sooke Harbour House in Victoria. I’ve had the pleasure to play for some celebrities along the way, Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, Bill Gates and various politicians and dignitaries. I have also have shared the stage with many musicians including Placido Domingo, John Williams, The Irish Rovers, 54-40, Jim Byrnes among others… I specialize in the intimate, unique wedding, but want you to know that I have the energy and musical vitality to fill any space! Also accompanying me to any event is a sense of style, professionalism, and a gratitude for the privilege to be taking part in such a significant moment in your life! Sincerely, Kathy Stacey

Kathryn and Tyson Doknjas are a classically-trained, versatile ensemble who will surely cater to your unique range of musical tastes. They provide all their repertoire on both violin duo or violin & viola duo. Their repertoire ranges from Baroque to folk to modern rock, and they can arrange any song for their instrumentation, fitting it perfectly for your special event. The pair met at the 2013 Brott Music Festival in Hamilton. There they joined their musical passions to discover and collaborate on obscure works written for two violins. Since then, they have thrived on exploring repertoire from Leclair and Glière to Billy Joel and Stan Getz. When not performing with classical ensembles on the island, such as Victoria Symphony, Sidney Classical Orchestra, or the Galiano Ensemble, the pair enjoy bringing their music to a plethora of demographics and occasions, whether it be putting on concerts at retirement homes, playing for weddings, flea markets, improvising and collaborating with folk & indie artists, or even busking Downtown Victoria. Tyson and Kathryn thrive on using their talents to provide live entertainment to the community. They have brought joy to their audiences due to their sizzling musical chemistry, their high standard of musical precision, and their unique fusion of class and funk.
