Located in Copper Hill, Virginia, Apple Ridge Farm offers wooded areas and a rustic, barn-style wedding venue for couples to host their big day. It was purchased by Peter Allen Lewis in 1975 as a mountain camp to give underserved children an educational experience at the rural retreat. To date, it has helped more than 68,000 youth, who have enjoyed the relaxing setting featuring acres of fields, meadows, forests, and streams. Perfect for a weekend wedding, the farm offers hiking trails, tennis courts, a pool, and endless activities for guests.
Facilities and Capacity
Apple Ridge Farm welcomes groups of up to 150 people to enjoy special occasions at their retreat. They can accommodate wedding ceremonies, receptions, bridal showers, engagement parties, and rehearsal dinners. Couples may use a multitude of indoor or outdoor spaces, and the facility can accommodate the rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, and reception without ever leaving the premises. Some of the outdoor event spaces include The Spangler Pavilion, Lost Hollow Stage, Garden Stage, and Stubborn Stump. Each area offers its own unique features, but all contain fantastic towering trees, sunlight filtering through the leaves, and private locations. If a covered outdoor area is desired, Starr’s House is a presentation area located under the portico of the overnight lodge. The barn and two indoor reception-size rooms include large windows and stone fireplaces. Guests can also socialize at the tables in the picnic areas, which are in close proximity to all the reception areas. Parking and wheelchair access is available for wedding guests and outside vendors.
Apple Ridge Farm staff is happy to help couples arrange whatever they need for their big day, as well as offer their inventory or chairs, tables, and linens. Their accommodations can provide spaces for an afternoon, day, or overnight multi-day experience, offering bunk rooms and private rooms to guests, as well as outside camping.
Apple Ridge Farm is approximately 43 minutes away from Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport, located in Roanoke. Larger groups may want to explore overnight accommodation options in Copper Hill and Floyd, or look to Christiansburg or Roanoke.
