About Waters House

The Waters House, located on the Waters-Moss Memorial Wildlife Area property, came as part of the land swap agreement between the Missouri Department of Conservation and Columbia Parks and Recreation. Park staff remodeled the building in 2017 to make it suitable for program use and private rental. The house is primarily used for recreation programs. However, when not in program use, the Waters House is made available for rental for private parties, events, weddings, and meetings, with a maximum of 50 people. The rental space includes two rooms, kitchen, foyer, two restrooms, and an outdoor patio.

Rustic, quaint and cozy!! - An Eventective User

This facility was perfect for our party. Many guests had not been here before and we received great feedback from them about how warm and cozy Waters house is. Having a full kitchen and long tables was very convenient. Parking is ample. I’ll definitely book it again.

Great pace to have an event. - An Eventective User

We had my daughter's bridal shower at the Waters House. It was easily accessible and large enough for our event. The only thing I ask is that they make it clear where to drop the key off. We just drove to next venue until we found a key deposit box. Other than that, it was a great place to rent for your event.

Management Response
We're so glad you enjoyed the Waters House! I apologize for your difficulty finding the key drop. We try to make it easy by offering three options for drop boxes and key returns, both downtown and at Waters-Moss Memorial Wildlife Area. I do understand that finding the Moss Building may be difficult as there are 4 buildings on the property. Please let me know if there's anything we could do to better convey the location of the Moss Building to future rentals. Cassie Brandt Columbia Parks and Recreation Cassie.Brandt@CoMo.gov

The Waters House is rustic, clean and comfortable, and tucked back into the woods, providing a really nice venue for family get-togethers. The house has a 50-person capacity, although I would say it holds 40 comfortably. There are two separate rooms connected by a vestibule, a kitchen, storage, and two restrooms. We used the larger of the two rooms for seating and set up all the food in the smaller room adjacent to the kitchen, which worked well. The smaller room also has a nice stone fireplace, which served as a nice backdrop for photos. The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator/freezer, and the open floorplan made food prep, setup, and cleanup easy and convenient. Rectangular tables and nice padded folding chairs were provided and were in almost-new condition. There is also a beautiful stone patio on the back of the house with a barbecue grill; however, you must provide your own outdoor seating (the provided tables and chairs are not allowed outside), which is hard if you're coming from out of town. This was my one disappointment in the house, as I would have really liked to have taken advantage of the beautiful yard. The Waters House is handicapped accessible, and there is ample parking. Overall, this is a nice venue in a peaceful, wooded setting just minutes from city conveniences and hotels.
