Percy & Small Shipyard offers the option for a tented event on the banks of the Kennebec River, surrounded by historic shipyard buildings and the sculpture of the schooner Wyoming. Long Reach Hall is a timber-framed hall with an attached deck overlooking the Kennebec River and Doubling Point Lighthouse. Use of adjacent lawn areas is included for events. Sewall Hall & Museum Galleries, our main entrance decorated with historic ship flags, perfect for a cocktail hour, reception for up to 150 people, or a wedding ceremony

Long Reach Hall is a magnificent timber frame addition to the Maritime History Building at the Museum. Long Reach Hall spans 80' of waterfront footage on the beautiful Kennebec River and the main portion of the room is 40'x80'. Moveable partitions in the Hall enable the space to be sectioned off into three 20'x20' rooms, or one 40'x20' room off the Main Room. The Hall can accommodate 125 seated for dinners and meetings or 175 for a standing reception.

Our shipyard offers the option for a tented event on the banks of the Kennebec River, surrounded by historic shipyard buildings and the sculpture of the schooner Wyoming. The historic Percy & Small Shipyard is where some of the world's largest wooden sailing vessels were built, including the six-masted schooner Wyoming, launched in 1909. This unique space offers waterfront views and is the perfect location for lobster bakes and receptions. Between 1897 and 1920, Sam Percy & Frank Small constructed 41 four-, five- and six-masted schooners on this site, now part of the Museum. Today, in five of the original shipyard buildings, the process of building a wooden schooner is faithfully reconstructed - from lofting the lines through milling timbers, building the vessel, and launching day. The Percy & Small Shipyard provides an active interpretation of our maritime heritage by bringing visitors close to the tools, the people, and the environment of wooden shipbuilding. We offer guided tours of the Shipyard from April through October, and self-guided tours are available all year 'round. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Housed in the Maritime History Building, our Galleries feature the permanent exhibit "A Maritime History of Maine," which illustrates six timeless themes of coastal Maine: living on land & sea, fishing, local trade, world trade, wooden shipbuilding, and recreation on Maine waters. Here you can practice sailors' knots on a knot-rail, and heave away at the capstan to hoist a heavy load. Galleries filled with changing exhibits explore many aspects of the history and human experience of maritime Maine. Most visitors spend an hour or more exploring these remarkable windows on our maritime history.
