My wife and I had the pleasure of getting married at the Independence Harbor just over two years ago. Their staff was incredibly accommodating and easy to work with. We were really looking for a venue that would allow us to have the ceremony and the reception in one spot, so that we could avoid making our guests drive all over the place. Our ceremony was outside in their beautiful garden - they have a nice gazebo for the couple to stand in so that they're out of the direct sunlight. It's important to note though, that they do not allow you to setup a tent outside. If it's drizzling, they'll leave the decision up to you (whether or not you want to continue to have the ceremony outside). If it's really raining, though, you're out of luck. They will move the ceremony into their reception hall. While the hall is nice, I'm really glad that we were able to have the ceremony in their gardens. We got married on a Sunday morning and had their 'brunch' menu. Everything was delicious - our friend and family are still talking about it two years later! The only other criticism that I have is that, while their lawns and gardens are beautiful, they are a little uptight about them. We had a few small children who, towards the end of the reception, were running around and playing on the lawn. Nothing destructive, mind you, just playing a game like tag. The staff asked the kids to stop playing so that they didn't 'ruin the grass'. This is also the reason that they will not allow tents - they don't want to ruin the grass. All in all, I would totally recommend Independence Harbor as a wedding venue, even if they are a little uptight!
