Planning a wedding includes thinking about a ton of details—the dress, the shoes, the venue, the food. One major detail is, of course, the dessert, which is often a wedding cake. But in 2024, couples are blowing past the wedding cake designs we’ve seen over the past couple of years and bringing back some of the most timeless—and fun—elements of the ’70s and ’80s, incorporating small details like pearls, and adding a touch of glam with metallics.

Consider these rising wedding cake trends if you’re planning your own nuptials this year and are looking for a stand-out wedding dessert your guests will talk about long after the party is over.

17 Wedding Trends You’ll See Everywhere in 2024, According to Experts

Pearls

Elegant, old-fashioned, and ever-popular in bridal fashion, pearls are jumping to wedding cakes. “Pearl-encrusted cakes are everywhere—meticulously placed edible pearls create such a luxe look on a cake and they’re a great way to tie in details from the other elements of your wedding into the cake design,” says wedding cake designer Celeste Scott of Butter Bakery.

Textured Finishes

Brides are opting away from perfectly smooth finishes in favor of something with a little more texture, which can take a variety of forms. “This trend moves away from the perfectly smooth surfaces of traditional cakes, embracing instead the tactile allure of ruffles, ridges, and waves,” says wedding photographer Charles Moll. “Textured frosting adds a layer of depth and sophistication, allowing for a play of light and shadow that transforms the cake into a stunning visual element.”

Metallic Details

Don’t forget about your cake when thinking about the glam factor—wedding professionals are seeing metallic details on the rise in wedding cakes. “Metals and particularly silver are making a comeback,” Scott says. “I’m seeing lots of silverware used in wedding styling, which is about to make its way into cake design. Silver leaf, shiny sprinkles, and edible glitter could all be big this year.”

Fresh Florals

Flower motifs aren’t new to the wedding cake world, but more couples are beginning to lean heavily on fresh florals for their cake design. “Instead of expertly placing statement flowers on the cake or adding traditional toppers, bakers are covering their creations in florals, curating a look perfect for garden-inspired or eclectic-feeling weddings,” says Cameron Forbes, founder of Forbes Functions. “Bakers can utilize pressed and dried florals to lay flat on the cake and combine these with fresh flowers to create depth and dimension on the wedding day.”

Lambeth Piping

What’s old is new again with this particular style of cake decor, which is characterized by maximalist flourishes—on cakes large and small. “In 2024, couples can expect to see the Lambeth style of decorated cakes, as well as other vintage styles of piping,” says wedding planner Kimberly Lehman. “These styles of piped icing are featured on classic white cakes, as well as colored iced confections.”

Bows

Bows are big in wedding trends this year, from bridal fashion to cakes. “Bows are everywhere and I think will make their way to wedding cakes in fun and creative ways,” says Jove Meyer, an event and wedding planner. “From a series of many small bows to one large bow, bows will be here for a little while for sure!”

Nature-Inspired Cakes

Flowers, greenery, branches—these all can have a place in your cake design this year. “Opting for a cake with elements like hand-painted flowers, cascading foliage, or even incorporating real blooms is the perfect way to add a touch of natural beauty to your special day,” says wedding planner Carissa Kruse. “Lavender, olive branches, and eucalyptus leaves are some of the most popular choices that couples are requesting for their wedding cakes this year.”

Vintage Tiered Cakes

The ’70s and ’80s are back, baby, and so are the tiered wedding cakes that your parents probably had. “Many of my 2024 brides are opting for vintage-style cakes,” says Jennifer Hines, event planner and owner of Tie a Bow. ” And ’70s-inspired tiered cakes separated by pillars have made a comeback. I think today’s bride appreciates the fun additions of lace, bells, and bows as a nod to the types of cakes their parents might have served.”

Heart Shaped Cakes

Alongside those tiered confections, retro heart-shaped cakes are also popping back up. “The heart cake is also big, especially a heart cake with vintage piping around the perimeter,” says Meyer. “Cake shapes are also changing and couples are embracing the less perfect more funky shapes and textures, imperfectly perfect cakes are on the rise.”

Maddie McNabb, owner of Maddie About Cake, agrees, adding that she’s made heart-shaped cakes out of macarons as well, like the cake shown above. “Couples particularly like the heart-shaped Lambeth-style cake because they can still cut it like a traditional cake for the photo-op,” she says. “They are also a great option for gluten-free couples and guests.”

Nontraditional “Cakes”

BIRDS OF A FEATHER

While a lot of attention is given to a wedding cake, you don’t necessarily need to have traditional cake—you can opt for something like a macaron tower, which also doubles as a gluten-free dessert option. “Some couples are stepping away from the cake trend altogether, even forgoing the cake-cutting scene entirely,” says McNabb. “I make a lot of macarons for weddings, typically for a dessert table and favors. However, I’ve seen an increase in inquiries for my macaron cakes.”

Sheet Cakes

We know what you’re thinking, but those sheet cakes you find at the grocery store are actually having a major wedding cake moment this year. Wedding photographer Kathryn Yeaton notes that “more is more” when it comes to cakes, and single-tier is no exception. “They are larger, lengthier (especially with the current popularity of table-length sheet cakes), and more adorned than ever,” she says.

“Length is the new height!” says Scott. “Couples looking to make a real statement are opting for super-long cakes rather than towering tiers. Think giant sheet cakes elevated with beautiful decorations such a flowers, edible pearls, and fruit.”

party recap

I decided to host a styled wedding photo shoot for the Eagles Aerie 555 in Akron, Ohio. My friend is the current President of the Ladies Auxiliary Group for the Aerie. The group was planning the 96th Anniversary of their organization, and asked me to assist with planning their event. We decided to hold the photo shoot the day before the Anniversary Party. That way we could use the same decor, and showcase the talents of the vendors involved in both the photo shoot and the party.
We decided on a 1920’s, Great Gatsby inspired theme for the photo shoot, with a classic color palate of black, gold, and white. There was a great mix of modern and vintage elements, especially in the fashions and accessories. Our fabulous models were Lauren Simpson, Chula DeJesus, and Brynn Eiffert.

party highlights

  • WHAT PEOPLE ATE We had a fabulous three-tiered Art Deco styled cake, in shades of gold, black and white. White feather plumes and a custom cake topper completed the decadent look. We also had custom designed sugar cookies that captured the feeling of a Roaring 20’s party.
  • WHAT PEOPLE DRANK In the 1920’s, Prohibition was in full effect around the USA. For our styled photo shoot, we created a drink menu that included champagne, Gin Rickey, Old Fashioned, and the Sidecar. The Eagles Aerie 555 in Akron, Ohio, offers a full bar for private events.
  • DESSERTS We had a fabulous three-tiered Art Deco styled cake, in shades of gold, black and white. White feather plumes and a custom cake topper completed the decadent look. We also had custom designed sugar cookies that captured the feeling of a Roaring 20’s party.
  • ACTIVITIES / GAMES After-hours clubs were very popular during the 1920’s, and many were very glamorous. We were inspired by such movies as “The Great Gatsby” and “Harlem Nights”. We had games of chance set out including blackjack, poker, a money wheel, and several decks of cards for those that did not wish to “gamble”.

HOW TO DO A STYLED SHOOT

In this post, Kimberly Lehman, gives us expert advice on how to do a styled shoot. Today we have Kimberly, founder of Love, Laughter & Elegance Wedding and Event Planning, giving us great advice on how to do a styled shoot. She has planned and participated in over 14 styled bridal photo shoots since 2016. All of her styled bridal photo shoots to date have been published, both in print and online. If you have plans of doing your first styled shoot soon, this article is a great place to start.

How to Do a Styled Shoot

Styled photo shoots are not a new concept. Photography has long been a huge medium for commercial business advertising, as well as creating aesthetic artwork. Newer photographers are highly encouraged to participate in and host photo shoots, as a way to develop their skills, and create content for their portfolios and social media outlets. Not every photo shoot has to be elaborate in subject matter and style.

What is a Styled Shoot?

A photo shoot could be as simple as a pretty little girl, twirling in a princess dress, in a park setting. Or, one may shoot a romantic picnic setting with an attractive couple. Often, a single female model is the subject, clad in a stunning outfit, with hair and makeup professionally done. The model might carry an oversized picture hat, or a lush bouquet of flowers, or an adorable puppy. The options for choosing what, where, and when to shoot photos are endless. Our world is a continually evolving source of inspiration for photographers, and videographers, to capture and create appealing images. In turn, the need for appealing images especially applies to the event, entertainment, and hospitality industries, who in turn use those images to attract customers.

Photography Style

As a wedding planner with more than twenty years of experience, I have a sincere appreciation for amazing photographs of a beautiful wedding or event. I love to look at magazines and books, as well as online at blogs and social media sites that feature gorgeous weddings, styled photo shoots, and parties. Having worked with numerous talented photographers over the years, I have learned about different styles of photography, such as moody, vibrant, and light and airy.

I understand the differences between candid photography, portraiture, and photojournalism. I know that shooting photos in natural light is vastly different from shooting in a studio, or indoors in a venue that might require additional lighting methods. Also, that editing photos correctly, and consistently, takes considerable time and effort. I love it when I receive galleries full of stunning photos from a photographer, from a recent wedding or styled photo shoot, that we worked on together. I greatly appreciate photographers, and their hard work. This is not only a job or career for them, it is a passion, and a labor of love.

Photographers are obviously key players when planning a styled photo shoot. But what about the other vendors? What roles do they play in the process? In all honesty, planning a styled wedding photo shoot is much like planning an actual wedding, just on a smaller scale, that involves other creative professionals. As a wedding planner, when I am organizing a styled photo shoot, I come up with a game plan.

Having a Goal

First, I determine what my goals are for producing a styled photo shoot. Usually, the goal is to submit the professional photos for national publication, both in print and online. When the photos are published, this creates exposure, not only for myself, and my planning business, but for all of the creative entrepreneurs that contributed their time and talents to the event. Exposure, in turn, will drive traffic to the websites of the vendors and models involved, and will generate inquiries and bookings for their services.

Another, secondary, goal is to create something unique and beautiful, just for my own personal creative aesthetic. I have to admit, once one has planned a styled shoot, it becomes quite addictive. Especially if you love to see your work published, as I do, being shared with thousands of people.

Choosing Your Design

The next step in my planning process is to create the overall aesthetic for the styled photo shoot. I take into consideration several factors, such as the time of year for the shoot, whether I want to hold it indoors or outside, potential locations, theme, and colors. I think about the potential available models and creative professionals, and any special elements I might wish to incorporate, like a vintage vehicle, or certain types of flowers.

Then I start looking online for photos that might work well together to reflect the overall theme. Pinterest is a great resource for putting ideas together, as well as Canva, and sometimes I use Google Images for additional inspiration. Then I compile all of the images I really like into one inspiration board, and that becomes my reference for the styled photo shoot. I share the inspiration board with my models and vendors, so that they have a clear idea of the overall look I am trying to achieve.

Pick a Location

Setting the scene is the next step. Everyone always says, “location, location, location.” It is very true. The location selected for a styled photo shoot, can, in part, determine if a submission will be accepted for publication. That is not to say that you cannot take a “blank canvas” of a venue, such as a plain party hall, or a warehouse space, and absolutely transform it.  It is done by professionals, every day, in the event industry.

If, however, you select a location with historical value, interesting architectural details, or simply gorgeous landscaping and scenery, you increase your chances of having your submission accepted. I try to create a list of potential venues that would work with the theme of my styled photo shoot. Then I contact those venues, and give them a range of calendar dates, to see what might be available. Once an agreement has been made with a venue to use their location for the styled photo shoot, I will begin to contact vendors and models to feature in the photo shoot.

Finding the Right Vendors

Finding the right vendors and models to participate in a styled photo shoot can be a challenge, sometimes. Everyone has busy lives and crazy schedules. Many vendors have families, or other careers, that will take precedence over my request for collaboration on my current project. As I have been involved in the wedding and event industry for over twenty years, I have built an extensive list of vendors that I love to work with and refer.

I am also always open to meeting and working with new vendors, both established, and those that are just starting out.  This is where networking skills come in handy, to connect and collaborate with vendors. Sometimes I have trouble finding an available vendor or two to complete my team for the styled shoot, like a florist or baker. I will reach out to my other contacts, for referrals and suggestions. Most of the time, people are happy to help, even at the last moment.  Even if we do not have a team member available for every category, like hairstyling or specialty linens, many of my vendors are talented in other areas, and will pitch in to fill the gaps.

My team always comes together to produce an amazing styled shoot. It is often recommended that contracts are to be used when working with vendors and models. My team members work with me on a voluntary basis, and I am upfront with my expectations from each vendor, what their role is in the styled shoot, and what they will receive in return, which is professional photos of the styled shoot to use in marketing and social media. They will also receive credit and promotion when a styled photo shoot is published and shared through print and online media sources. I strongly believe in “community over competition.” I want my vendors and models to enjoy working with me and want to continue to assist me in producing beautiful, inspiring content for everyone to enjoy.

Planning Out the Details

Once I have my creative team in place, the next step is planning out the details. The details are the elements of the styled shoot that reflect your vision of the event. The big elements will include the cake, the flowers, the models and their attire, and of course the venue or outdoor setting. As important as it is to have those components in your styled shoot, for me, it’s the little details that tell the story of the event.

I will start sourcing small items like jewelry, décor, tableware, vintage greeting cards, fabrics, and accessories. Sometimes I will purchase clothing items specifically for a shoot. I will also look for unique items on websites like Ebay, Etsy, and Facebook resale groups.  Local thrift stores are my favorite spots for great deals. As I have planned out my styled shoots, I have discovered that I have a personal style that I deem “vintage with a twist.” I absolutely adore vintage items, and I try to use some in each shoot. Vintage items could be a pretty handkerchief, or a pair of cufflinks for the gentleman.

Sometimes the items are personal to me and my family. I have used my grandmother’s wedding rings and vintage fur stole, my mother’s artwork and hand painted keepsake box, and even my own china and glassware that were given to me as wedding gifts. I often use the same items in different styled shoots. For example, I have used different sets of charger plates in several shoots, my own personal tableware, and linens. Votive candles, jewelry, accessories and attire have also made multiple appearances in my shoots. I try to carry at least one decorative element over from one styled shoot to the next. It creates a consistency in my overall style and branding, and collective body of work.

Learn To Be Flexible

When I have decided on and collected all of my detail items for the particular styled shoot, it is time to plan out the schedule for the day. This is very much like the way I create an itinerary for a wedding or event for my clients. The only difference is that for a wedding weekend, certain events must happen in a particular order:  rehearsal, ceremony, social hour, reception, etc. Within a styled photo shoot event, I have more flexibility in the schedule.

Have a Timeline

I always state that the schedule is a proposed timeline of events, subject to changes as needed. If a vendor happens to be running late, or if one of models cannot be at the venue at the same time as the other, I can rearrange certain parts of the setup and shooting schedule to accommodate those needs. As with any event that I plan, I am working with multiple vendors and moving parts. It pays to be open minded, and flexible.  My goals on the day of the styled shoot are to make sure all of the people and items are in the places they need to be, to do whatever is necessary to keep things going smoothly, and to try to stay on schedule as much as possible. All of my vendors and models understand this concept, and graciously work together to produce amazing results.

Shoot Day Provisions

On the day of the styled shoot, I am always the first person on site, besides the venue owner or designated representative. I make sure I have all relevant paperwork, like contracts, contact and social media information for vendors and models, and lists of items and services being provided for the event. I also have a copy of the schedule, and sometimes a list of specific shots that I would like the photographer to take during the shoot. Depending on the location, and time of the styled shoot, I do try to provide bottled water and some snacks for my team. Sometimes the venue will provide those items for us, and that is always a blessing. There are also times that I will mention before the shoot that each person attending will need to be responsible for their own meals.

I usually have my personal supply kit handy at each styled shoot, the same as I do for weddings and events. I include basic toiletries, tape, scissors, pens, lighter, paper products, and trash bags.

Pro Tip: I often bring extra items for styling, like different kinds of ribbon, scarves, silk flowers, candles, and small printed signs. Photographers usually like to pair these items with stationery suites and wedding rings for detail shots. I have seen so many gorgeous layouts, or “flat lays.” These types of photos really help to tell the story of the styled shoot.

Day of Shoot

Finally, we get to work on the day of the styled shoot, setting up décor and putting the models in gorgeous gowns and stylish suits. The shutters of the cameras start clicking, and the models are posed in endless ways, pausing only briefly to change outfits, or to touch up hair and makeup. For as much time and planning that goes into a styled photo shoot, the actual day of the event goes by quickly, and it’s over before you know it. The anticipation of receiving the finished gallery of images from the photographer is sometimes overwhelming.

Creating Community

When I receive the images, I am always blown away from the depth and excellent quality of the stunning photos, and the talent of the photographer that took them. I love working with my talented team members and praise them for all of the help they so lovingly and freely give of themselves to bring my visions to life. I know that I cannot do this alone, and I am exceedingly grateful for everyone that has contributed to my projects, and I love to return the favors by helping others with their projects. Community over collaboration is a wonderful concept. Please share it with others in our industry. Keep on dreaming and creating!

Our Pride & Prejudice inspired styled wedding shoot is featured on the Plans & Presents blog!!

We are so excited that our Pride & Prejudice inspired styled wedding photo shoot has been featured on the Plans & Presents blog! I absolutely love the 2005 movie version of Jane Austen’s classic novel. When the opportunity came up to plan a Regency styled photo shoot, I jumped at it. We produced this photo shoot on the same day as our Bridgerton themed shoot, also featured on the Plans & Presents blog. It was a lot of work to pull those both off in the same day, but the results are gorgeous! We had a gorgeous location, the Tudor House on the Portage Lakes near Akron, Ohio. I hope you enjoy!

A beautiful Regency inspired wedding shoot channeling Pride & Prejudice and pretty grey and yellow details

AUGUST 1, 2022 STYLED SHOOTS

Today I am thrilled to share a beautiful Regency inspired wedding shoot channeling Pride & Prejudice and pretty grey and yellow details.

Images were captured by Karen Menyhart Photography with planning by Kimberly Lehman of Love, Laughter & Elegance: Wedding & Event Planning, and the collaboration of a fabulous creative team.

Kimberly says of the shoot…

The era of Jane Austen is wonderful, and I absolutely adore the 2005 movie adaptation of the classic novel, of Pride and Prejudice.

Bearing this in mind I wanted to bring to life the romantic story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy.

We had the perfect setting at The Tudor House on the Portage Lakes, in New Franklin, Ohio.

Once a private residence, this venue is now used for social events and weddings.

Beautiful scenery and timeless interior design provided a memorable setting for our styled wedding photo shoot incorporating the 2021 Pantone Colors of the Year, Ultimate Grey and Illuminating, we worked with amazing vendors to create a tribute to this iconic romance.

Design

My team needed to find a venue that would set the perfect mood of Regency England.

Since I did not have a castle nearby, the Tudor House was dreamy, and storybook perfect.

There are lush gardens and grounds to wander through, and the rooms in the mansion are straight out of a romance novel.

We chose the conservatory for the setting of our tablescapes. The room has a large stone fireplace, flagstone floor, and many tall windows that fill the space with tons of natural light.

We incorporated the colours of our palette  to create a soft, romantic setting for the intimate wedding celebration.

Stationery Suite & personal details

We had the loveliest invitation suite created for this shoot by Michelle Mospens Studio to give an insight into the day.

The invitation featured silhouettes of Lizzie and Mr. Darcy, and hand-deckled edges.

The envelope liner and response card featured watercolor illustrations by the artist.

Other lovely decorative details included a sheet of hand drawn illustrations of the characters, a small plaque placed on the fireplace mantel with a quote from the novel, and a pendant necklace that featured a small section of print with the names of Lizzie and Mr. Darcy.

Wedding Wardrobe

Our wardrobe choices were kept as close to Regency Era fashions as possible.

We dressed Sammy in a long creamy white Empire style dress, with a subtle textured fabric, and cream chiffon ruffle trim.

We accented her dress with a bright yellow satin ribbon sash, yellow slippers, and an off white shawl.

She also wore pearl jewelry and a jeweled comb in her upswept chestnut locks.

Her ring was a bezel set stone in an antique gold setting and her wrist Gauntlets and handbags were by Lorili Design

To compliment Cyrus was every inch the dapper gentleman, in his burgundy double breasted coat, grey pants, and snappy navy blue cravat.

He completed his stately look with tall black riding boots, and black felt top hat.

Our florals for this styled shoot were gorgeous and created by Dietz Floral Studio.

We wanted to capture a fresh, sunny look, with lush blooms from the garden.

The dining table centerpiece was comprised of yellow ranunculus and butterfly ranunculus, white mums, astilbe, yin yang, and button mums.

Some of the same blooms were also used in the two smaller arrangements framing the cake on the dessert table. Lizzie’s hand-tied bridal bouquet contained the same florals, and also included white tulips. Absolutely beautiful design!

Cake & Sweet treats

The cake for our Pride and Prejudice theme was amazing! Stephanie Blackmon created the stunning three tier cake, covered in a soft grey shade of fondant icing.

The silver mirrored cake topper featured an iconic quote from Mr. Darcy, “I love you most ardently”.

This is one of my favorite quotes and it conveys such a depth of emotion.

Finally, sprigs of greenery en wreathed the delicate yellow and white roses and white Cosmos flowers at the front of the cake, completing the gorgeous confection.

Rachel Martinez created custom decorated sugar cookies to match our theme. Decorated with yellow and white flowers and greenery, these cookies were true works of art.

One cookie featured the quote, “You have bewitched me, body and soul”. Other cookies featured beautifully scripted “Mr. & Mrs.”, and the date of our shoot. Everything looked too good to eat!

The Tablescape

We had two lovely tables for our Pride and Prejudice theme. The dining table was set for an intimate gathering of six.

The The table was covered in a silver grey linen, and a lustrous gold satin table runner, with tassels at the ends.

The chairs were covered in silvery grey, and accented with fluffy yellow chiffon sashes.

The table settings combined gold charger plates, vintage china with hand painted grey and yellow roses, and vintage linen napkins with embroidered white daisies.

The glassware was an elegant mix of amber wine glasses, smokey champagne glasses, and amber dessert bowls.

Creamy white candles glowed in vintage gold mercury votives, and a pair of tall antique pewter candlesticks.

The silvery compote bowl held a large floral arrangement of golden yellow and white blooms and greenery, straight from the gardens.

The cake table was nestled in a corner of the conservatory, flanked by tall windows overlooking the estate grounds.

Dressed in a silver grey linen, and a vintage yellow topper with delicate floral and scalloped embroidery.

The stunning cake was placed in the middle of the table, surrounded by vintage gold mercury votives, and two small floral arrangements.

To serve the cake and cookies, we placed antique china, hand painted with daisies, alongside vintage yellow napkins embroidered with daisies.

Finally, the happy couple could toast with stemless wine glasses, which read, “His Lizzy” and “Her Mr. Darcy”. So very charming!

Our Bridgerton inspired styled wedding photo shoot is featured on the Plans and Presents blog!

Hello, Bridgerton Fans!! Like many of you, I have been OBSESSED with this show since it first aired on Netflix. Season one, with the characters of Daphne and Simon, completely enthralled me! I enjoyed the show so much, and rewatched it several times, that I was inspired to create my own interpretation of the show, in a gorgeous styled wedding photo shoot. We had a large cast of enthusiastic characters, and amazing vendors that brought this vision to life. Thank you to Alison Tinlin, of the Plans and Presents blog, for featuring this amazing collaboration! Enjoy!!

https://www.mrspandp.com/styled-shoots/a-beautiful-regency-inspired-wedding-shoot-channelling-bridgerton-and-pretty-blue-details/

Today I am thrilled to share a beautiful Regency inspired wedding shoot channelling Bridgerton and pretty blue details.

Images were captured by MP Photography with planning by Love, Laughter & Elegance: Wedding & Event Planning, and the collaboration of a fabulous collaborative team.

Kimberly of Love, Laughter & Elegance: Wedding & Event Planning says of the shoot…

Is there anyone who has not yet seen the Bridgerton series on Netflix?

I absolutely love this television series, based on the romance novels by Julia Quinn, and Shonda Rhimes and her production team have created an amazing show based on the books.

As we delve into the second series streaming now, we celebrate the magic of the first season, with the storyline featuring the romance of debutante Daphne Bridgerton, and Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings.

It is an enchanting and gorgeous modern interpretation of the Regency Era in England, during the social Season.

I wanted to capture the essence of the aristocratic members of the Haute Ton, and the romance of Daphne and Simon.

We had the perfect setting at The Tudor House on the Portage Lakes, in New Franklin, Ohio.

Once a private residence, this venue is now used for social events and weddings, and it had the beautiful scenery and timeless interior design provided a memorable setting for our styled wedding photo shoot.

Incorporating a soft colour scheme of blues and greys, we worked with amazing vendors to create a tribute to this iconic romance.

I’ve been a fan of Regency Era Romances for many years, and so this provided the inspiration.

The glamour and elegance of the age provides the perfect setting for love stories among the members of polite society.

There were specific rules and events for those seeking to marry, and heaven help you if you were caught in a scandalous situation.

The Tudor House was the perfect setting for our styled wedding shoot.

We made use of several rooms like the formal dining room, breakfast room, the formal parlour that featured lots of beautiful woodwork and large windows and fireplace, and the lush grounds around the estate.

In the series, the Bridgerton family members are often dressed in a soft colour palette of blues, greys, lavenders and pinks.

I wanted carry that theme through our shoot in some of the wardrobe pieces.

As there was an ensemble cast for this styled shoot, we kept the wardrobe as authentic to the Regency Era as possible.

For Daphne’s wedding gown, she wore a vintage Empire waisted, white satin gown, with chiffon overlay skirt, and lace detail. Her look was accented by a soft blue paisley satin shawl with fringe.

Her hair was swept up, and accented by a lovely pearl and diamond tiara.

Her handsome Duke, Simon, wore a classic black suit, with white shirt, dark cravat tie, and silver waist coat.

His tie was accented by a gold pin with emerald stone, very similar to the one worn by the Duke of Hastings in the first season of the series.

For Daphne’s second look, her “going away” outfit, we put her in an Empire waisted, cream coloured gown with delicate blue floral embroidery and blue velvet ribbon trim.

Her pelisse was a lovely blue shade to match her gown. We added long gloves, and a matching reticule and parasol shade to complete her look.

As our Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, Elliott made a dashing impression.

He wore a striking ensemble of grey slacks, dark blue dress jacket and matching vest, white shirt and red cravat tie.

His love interest, opera singer Siena Rosso, played by Charli, looked ethereally lovely in a long blush pink.

Grecian style chiffon gown with matching shawl. Her dark curls were swept off of her face by a matching chiffon scarf.

Sarah, our lovely titan-haired aristocrat, glowed in an emerald green satin gown, with elegant black trim, and black pashmina shawl.

Her accessories included an emerald tiara and earrings.

Her gentleman, Gerry, was very dapper in black pants, white shirt, burgundy and silver vest with chain detail, and a silver cravat.

The lovely Cait, who may or may not have been impersonating Lady Whistledown during our styled shoot, was radiant in a gold satin gown, trimmed with ruby red ribbons and roses.

Her curly brunette locks were accented by a pearl trimmed band.

She also wore a matching yellow lace shawl, red slippers, and a beautiful cameo pendant on a red satin ribbon.

Sammy looked timelessly elegant in silver slipper satin gown trimmed with royal blue lace appliques and satin ribbon sash.

She wore a matching silver shawl, and a delicate silver tiara to complete her look.

Her gentleman, Cyrus, was looking every inch the nobleman in his outfit.

He wore grey pants, tall black leather riding boots, a white shirt, navy blue cravat tie, and dark red double-breasted coat.

All of the accessories such as gloves, jewelry, and tiaras, were from personal collections.

We had a very stylish group in attendance for the wedding of Daphne and Simon, the Duke and Duchess of Hastings, indeed!

We wanted to match the beautiful florals with our soft colour scheme, and the feel of being freshly gathered from the garden, and these were created by Dietz Floral Studio.

Daphne’s bridal bouquet was comprised of the same flowers as the table arrangements, with the addition of white lisianthus.

Definitely a romantic look for our Duchess of Hastings.

One of the most central pieces to the Bridgerton series is the printed gossip column, written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown. Of course, we had to include a copy of the scandal sheet in our styled shoot!

The invitation suite, personal vow books, and dinner party menu were all created by Michelle Mospens Studio.

Michelle had also hand-painted several designs of blue and white ginger jars on canvases, that fit so well with our table linens.

As Daphne’s character plays the pianoforte in the series, we added a small antique piano music box to our details.

The reticules were created by Laurie Wallick of Lorili Design, especially for this styled shoot.

We had two very distinct tables for our tribute to Bridgerton.

I also wanted to carry that theme through our shoot in the linens for the tablescapes, and some of the décor and detail items.

We set up the cake table in the morning room, or breakfast parlour, of the Tudor House.

There are several large windows, allowing lots of natural light and an amazing view of the lake just beyond the grounds of the estate.

This vintage garden table was covered with a silver grey linen, and two table runners, with a royal blue flocked velvet pattern, were crossed on top.

The  stunning cake by Sarah’s Sugar Cookies was placed in the middle of the table, and surrounded by linen napkins in silver grey and royal blue.

The silver laser cut names of Daphne and Simon were added to the table, along with a pair of antique cut crystal toasting flutes.

Our formal dining table was dressed to impress for the guests of Simon and Daphne.

The table and chairs were draped in silver grey linens. A square overlay with a royal blue flocked velvet design was placed diagonally across the table.

The chairs were tied with matching royal blue flocked velvet sashes.

The place settings were very elegant, with silver grey napkins placed under the fine white china that was banded with a silver Greek Key design.

On top of each place setting, we placed a small silver container with a clear dome cover, with mints inside.

Custom laser cut place cards by Chrissy Lane Designs, with the name of each guest, were added in front of each mint container.

The glassware included the traditional coffee cup and saucer, a smoky wine glass, and a clear champagne flute with a royal blue band.

A pair of black metal scroll work candelabras flanked the centerpiece, illuminating the table with long creamy taper candles.

The floral centerpiece was lush and full in a large silver patterned bowl, with garden blooms such as white lilacs, garden roses, ranunculus and Queen Anne’s lace, blue thistle, delphinium and tweedia in shades of blue and white, to complete the grand design of the table.

This was all perfect setting for a sweet beginning to marriage for the Duke and Duchess of Hastings.

Our Galentine’s Day styled photo is featured on the Plans and Presents blog!

We have been blessed to have our Galentine’s Day inspired photo shoot featured on the Plans and Presents blog! Thank you, Alison Tinlin, for sharing! Enjoy!

https://www.mrspandp.com/styled-shoots/a-beautiful-galentines-day-inspiration-shoot-with-pretty-red-pink-and-white-accents/

Today I am thrilled to share a beautiful Galentines Day Inspiration shoot with pretty red, pink, and white accents.

Galentines Day on February 13th has been designed to celebrate those other equally special relationships in our lives: our best girl friends.

Whether you want to plan something special to symbolise the importance of those friendships, or whether you are getting married soon, and could spin it as a Bridal shower / Hen Party idea then it’s important to show those in your life how blessed you feel to have them with you.

Images were captured by Jenna McCarty Photography with planning by Love, Laughter & Elegance: Wedding & Event Planning, and the collaboration of a fabulous creative team.

Kimberley says of the shoot…

The holiday celebration of “Galentine’s Day” was made popular a few years ago by the TV show “Parks and Recreation”.

I loved the idea of a day dedicated to sharing love and friendship with your best gal pals so I decided to design a styled photo shoot with some awesome ladies, sharing treats and an afternoon full of fun.

The venue is really unique, The Cross-Eyed Moose Event Center, in Homeworth, Ohio, formerly a Methodist church, that had been remodeled into a wonderfully charming, rustic, event center.

We used a mix of patterns in reds, pinks, and whites, to create a colorful and cozy setting for our celebration.

The results were utterly adorable! This theme also works really well for a bridal shower, or the theme of “What the World Needs Now, Is Love, Sweet Love.

Our models were encouraged to choose their own attire, hair style and makeup looks, as long as it went with our color palette of black and white, pink and red.

The looks range from a casual arrival look, to brunch ready, and dinner fabulous. Each outfit reflected the ladies’ personalities, and they certainly sparkled that afternoon!

We had two tables for our Galentine’s Day celebration, one for dining, and one laden with all kinds of sweets.

Our guest table was set at one of the venue’s unique custom made wooden tables, along with rustic high backed chairs.

We used a white jacquard linen, and placed a custom made table runner that was covered with hearts in different patterns.

We added gold charger plates, and delicate pink floral china plates.

The napkins were a mix of pink hearts on a red background, and a playful pink plaid. In the center of each place setting we laid a conversation starter card, so the ladies could have a fun, lighthearted chat over dinner. In vintage champagne glasses, we poured a lovely and sweet adult beverage.

We had a lovely centerpiece on our dining table, in a tall red glass vase.

We used shades of pink in the dahlias, peonies, and garden roses. At the very top of the arrangement was a single deep red rose.

We added a few sprigs of greenery to balance the overall design. A pair of rose colored taper candles in silver heart shaped candlestick holders completed our table, fit for our beautiful queens.

On our dessert table, we placed a black and red buffalo check cloth over a white linen.

We created a fun centerpiece for the table with a container that read “Happy Heart Day”, with pink and red tissue, a bouquet of wrapped chocolate roses, and a stuffed heart with sequins.

We had two cakes to grace our dessert table. The first is a chocolate heart shaped ice cream cake, decorated on the upper left side with a vanilla icing drizzle and hand molded chocolate pieces.

The base of the cake was layered in chocolate shavings. It was so yummy!

Our second cake definitely resonated with our theme of love and friendship.

A darling two tier confection, the first tier was covered in pink fondant icing, white piping and dots.

Small black chocolate tiles surrounded the base of the cake, each featuring a heart shape in the middle. The top tier of the cake was covered in white fondant icing, with pink piping and dots.

Around this tier, there were pink chocolate tiles with black hearts and flourishes. The cake was topped with a handmade cookie, where on one side read “I Love You”, and the other read “BFFs”. It tasted as amazing as it looked!

Both of the delicious cakes were placed on the table, along with several varieties of candies.

Rounding out our holiday brunch menu, we added glazed honey buns, chocolate brownie bites, blueberry and chocolate chip waffles, and individual bottles of sparkling beverages.

To finish our design, we added a sign that featured waffles and “Galentine’s Day”, a couple of small white lanterns, and LOVE letters.

For a last few personal cute handmade details we tied tags to pink chevron straws on the mini bottles of sparkling beverages.

For the intimate seating areas we added colorful blankets and pillows to one of the handmade wooden benches to create a cozy setting for our lovely ladies to snuggle up, keep warm and sip hot cocoa..

Above the bench there was a large mirror, to which we added handmade paper pinwheels, a puffy tulle banner, and letters that read “BFFs, Gals, and Pals”.

Our 1950’s Inspired Styled Shoot is featured on the Plans and Presents Blog!!

We have been blessed to have our 1950’s Inspired styled wedding photo shoot featured on the Plans and Presents Wedding Blog! I love the 1950s era! It was a time of elegance, style and grace. Life was a bit simpler, and the world seemed fresh and new again. I wanted to capture some of the essence of that era in this styled shoot. Enjoy!

A vibrant and colourful 50s theme wedding shoot with polka dot, cherry and bluebird details

AUGUST 17, 2021 STYLED SHOOTS

Today I am thrilled to share a vibrant and colourful 50s theme wedding shoot with polka dot, cherry and bluebird details.

Images were captured by Spurrell Photography with co-ordination and styling by Kimberly Lehman of Love, Laughter & Elegance: Wedding & Event Planning, and the collaboration of a fabulous creative team.

Kimberly says of the shoot…

I’m obsessed with all things vintage, especially the 1950’s era.

I love the music, red lipstick, fluffy skirts and gloves on ladies, and classic clean-cut looks on the gentlemen.

It was a simpler time, full of glamour and style so I was thrilled to be asked to design a styled wedding photo shoot for Arrowhead Golf and Event Centre in North Canton, Ohio, to showcase their venue.

This retro-inspired theme immediately came to mind, full of bright colours and fun.

The main colours used were cherry red and aqua blue, with a touch of baby pink and white to accent.

We added polka dots, cherries and blue birds into the design scheme for a few fun touches, also incorporating vintage clothing and accessories, rocking it out!

To give an insight into the day the stationery suite was created by Bellus Designs especially for this event, mirroring the bright colors and fun polka dots in our table settings.

There was also a subtle theme of cherries, hearts, and bluebirds of happiness running through our accessories and decor items. Overall, the vibe was very happy and dreamy, as a wedding day should be.

We showcased several different looks in attire for this styled shoot.

Our handsome male model, Kyle, wore a off white tuxedo jacket, white button down shirt, and slim-fitting black trousers, accenting his classic 1950’s look with dark dress socks with a cherry design.

Kyle wore two different ties, the first being a classic cream bow tie with cherries printed on it, and the second being a long red and white striped satin tie.

He also wore two different pocket squares in his jacket, the first an aqua blue plaid with birds printed on the one corner, and the second being a dark red with a yellow paisley design. Kyle also wore vintage cuff links to complete his stylish ensemble. Very dashing.

Our gorgeous bridesmaid model, Sarah, wore two very lovely and elegant outfits for our shoot.

The first ensemble was a vintage dusty blue satin bridesmaid gown, with an aqua blue petticoat underneath, with a large matching hair bow placed in her long curly locks.

We completed her look with glittery gold heels, jewellery with blue accents, vintage formal gloves, and a vintage pearl beaded clutch purse.

Sarah’s second look was very flirty and fun. She wore a black, full-skirted halter dress with a white sash and white polka dots.

To fill out her skirt, we added a flirty red petticoat, red Mary Jane heels, and a fun red fascinator that set off her curls and beautiful face.

Our stunning Bridal model, Sammy Kay had several vintage looks.

The first outfit was a vintage tea-length ivory satin dress from English Rose Vintage Oh, with an asymmetrical neckline, pleated waist, and full skirt.

We added a custom ivory satin sash, with a large bow and rolled satin roses. We wanted to give her a pop of colour with her dress, so we added the red petticoat underneath.

The underskirt peeked out below the hem at different times during the shoot, and looked amazing.

Her jewellery from Papparazzi Accessories included a red glass beaded bracelet with cherry charm, cherry earrings, and a red pendant necklace and her rings were a vintage wedding set belonging to my grandmother.

To complete her fun wedding day look, we added a romantic red lace birdcage veil by Over the Moon Bridal, red Mary Jane heels, vintage ivory lace gloves with red trim, and a vintage red leather clutch purse.

Sammy’s second look of the day was just as romantic. She wore a vintage 1940’s tea-length lace wedding dress, that was simply elegant.

For extra sparkle, we added a beaded belt from Lorili Design, a pearl bracelet, and glittery gold heels. in her hair, we placed an ivory floral fascinator that framed her dark curls perfectly.

To compliment the fashion our flowers were absolutely gorgeous, and were created by Liz Nidy Floral Design based on flowers commonly used in 1950’s weddings.

We had a large centrepiece for our dining table, a bridal bouquet, bridesmaid bouquet, two boutonnieres, and loose flowers to decorate the cake with.

Our florist Liz Nidy used roses, Malus tree blossoms, ranunculus, zinnias, a mix of greens , sprengeri fern and Italian ruscus.

Most of the flowers were a deep red, with some baby pink, white and yellow blossoms to balance the overall look, perfect for a spring wedding

Many of the decor items featured in this styled shoot are vintage items from the 1950’s, and are reflective of me wanting to create a truly authentic retro, but very fun, feel.

We created two lovely tablescapes to theme the day.

The first was our guest table, swathed in luscious aqua blue satin, and flanked by white covered chairs with matching aqua blue satin sashes.

For a pop of color, we added a bright cherry red runner with white polka dots down the middle of the table.

Our place settings were comprised of a red charger plate, ivory dinner plate with gold trim, and vintage blue patterned salad plates and saucers.

Our aqua blue satin napkins matched our table cloth and chair sashes perfectly.

In the centre of each place setting, we added an aqua tulle drawstring favour bag, covered in adorable white polka dots, and filled with classic red and white candies.

Our glassware included classic cobalt blue wine glasses, and clear water goblets.

Gold mercury votive candles were scattered along the length of the table, lending a glow alongside the creme taper candles, nestled in a pair of vintage glass candlesticks adorned with love birds.

The retro theme menu highlighted a meal that might have been served at a wedding reception in the 1950’s.

Formal escort cards were set alongside each place setting, and the table number card featured a lovely red heart and pair of bluebirds.

The gorgeous centerpiece was featured in the middle of the dining table, in a white compote bowl.

Our dessert table was just as lovely as our dining table, covered in the rich aqua blue satin tablecloth, and red runner with white polka dots.

The petite chocolate wedding cake was placed on a rise, and highlighted with a vintage wedding couple topper, and pink and white fresh flowers.

Below the cake, there was a darling handcrafted heart shaped ornament, made from a vintage cookie cutter, silk flowers and ribbon.

The handcrafted sign by Seasonal Accent at the back of the table was a beautiful reminder of love.

We placed luscious chocolate cupcakes on a vintage silver serving tray adorned with white and red lacy paper doilies.

A bottle of sparkling beverage awaited our couple, along with vintage champagne bride and groom glasses.

For those guests who did not wish to indulge in a bubbly beverage, soft drinks in vintage glass bottles were ready to be shared, with darling paper straws, printed with red chevron and vintage cherries designs.

To complete the colourful 50s wedding theme the cake was simple and elegant, just like many of the wedding cakes in the 1950’s.

It had a round chocolate layer tier, frosted in creamy chocolate buttercream with chocolate crunchy bits at the base.

It was decorated with a vintage couple cake topper, and fresh pink and white flowers and greenery.

We also added chocolate cupcakes frosted with cocoa flavoured icing, and chocolate sprinkles.

To finish off the look of the cupcakes, we placed a vintage heart shaped pick in each one. They were as yummy as they were charming!

Our Stargate Atlantis styled shoot is featured on the Plans and Presents Blog!

Hi Everyone! Our Stargate Atlantis inspired styled wedding photo shoot has been featured again, this time on the Plans and Presents Blog! I hope you enjoy!

A gorgeous Stargate Atlantis wedding styled shoot with beautiful deep blue & jewel tones

JULY 5, 2021 STYLED SHOOTS

Today I am thrilled to share this gorgeous Stargate Atlantis wedding styled shoot with beautiful deep blue & jewel tones.

Images were captured by Sweet Tea Moments with styling by Kimberly Lehman of Love, Laughter & Elegance with the collaboration of a fabulous creative team…

Kimberly says of the shoot…

This styled Stargate Atlantis wedding shoot was inspired by the science fiction themed television show which aired from 2004-2009 with a large international fan base.

The lead characters, Colonel John Sheppard and Teyla Emmagan had romantic feelings for each other, but never really acted upon them.

This is my interpretation of their wedding.

The photo shoot was produced at the Great Lakes Science Centre, in Cleveland, Ohio, a wonderful venue, full of all kinds of space, NASA, and science related exhibits.

When I envisioned the style of this photo shoot, I wanted to use lots of deep jewel tones: midnight blue, royal blue, emerald and jade green, gun metal grey and gold.

These colours are often featured throughout the episodes of the series, both in the sets and costumes.

I also wanted to use a location near a large body of water, in this case, Lake Erie, and the venue was the perfect blend of location, aesthetic, and space.

Our custom stationery suite giving an insight into this amazing themed day was designed by Sweet Tea Paper Co.

I wanted our models to resemble the characters of John Sheppard and Teyla Emmagan as closely as possible.

We had the models in two outfits, one more casual, and the other more formal.

In the first look, our Groom Joe wore a fitted black t-shirt and black trousers, similar to the everyday work attire of Col. John Sheppard.

Our Bride, Chula, was attired a little more formally, in a deep jade gown from Encore Resale Fashions, with a sparking star headband, and teal blue earrings and bracelet.

The necklace she wore featured a pendant that resembled the Stargate.

In the TV series, the Stargate is an intergalactic travel system, that was created by an ancient and advanced alien civilization.

Chulas gorgeous hairdo and beautiful natural make up was created by Heather O’Boyle Erman.

In the formal wedding attire, Joe wore a modern black tuxedo and preppy black bow tie, and custom made cufflinks, that resemble the Dial Home Device, or DHD, featured in the tv show. The DHD is the control device for the Stargate.

His wedding band was a two tone creation that had gold circular knot work in the middle.

Chula was resplendent in a soft off white gown that had a long pleated skirt, and embroidered bodice laden with crystals.

We finished her look with sparkling dangle earrings and bracelet, and a fingertip length veil trimmed in crystal beads.

Her rings were a solid band, and a delicate engagement ring of diamonds in a circular shape, which was reminiscent of the Stargate.

Since we used such rich colours in the decor, and the surroundings, I wanted to keep the floral colour scheme created by Cathryne’s Creative Details simple, but lush.

All white flowers were used in the bridal bouquet, boutonniere, dining table centrepiece, and small groupings.

The only touch of colours were the use of blue thistle, and a wide variety of greenery, including seeded eucalyptus.

The floral arrangements contained roses, peonies, and other small white flowers. The bridal bouquet used the same white flowers, and included a few King Protea blooms.

The dining table centrepiece featured a large gold double hoop design, and a lush floral garland that draped over the edges of the table.

Our three tier Stargate Atlantis Wedding cake was a gorgeous design, perfect for an intergalactic celebration and was designed by Eat Cake 216!

Covered in marbled fondant, and hand painted to look like the cosmos, it was too pretty to eat!

The cake featured hand painted constellations, including Pegasus, to represent the galaxy that the tv show takes place in, and is where Teyla’s character is from.

John’s character was also represented with the Big Dipper constellation, which is located in the Milky Way Galaxy.

The cake was topped with a handmade replica of the Stargate.

To compliment the cake and the galactic theme running through this shoot custom cookies by  Mad Celebrations Planning & PartyFunNalia made in the shape of moons, stars, and planets, with the character names of John and Teyla beautifully handwritten.

The cake was featured on two different tables, one full of personal detail items relating to the characters from the show, and then on a smaller table, in a more intimate setting with candles and the invitation suite, near the sweetheart table.

We set several beautiful tables for this Stargate Atlantis Wedding photo shoot.

The first table that we placed the cake on was covered in a full length gold sequin linen. I then added several items that were personal to the relationship of John and Teyla’s characters.

When the two first meet in the beginning episode of the series, Teyla asked John some questions in order to get to know him. He replied that he liked Ferris wheels and college football.

I came across a darling copper Ferris wheel, that was intended to hold cupcakes. I knew I had to use it in this feature, along with a football.

In the same episode, Teyla responded to John that her people, the Athosians, drank a stout tea each morning to brace themselves for the coming day.

I found a charming tea set with two cups on a small wooden tray that perfectly suited Teyla’s character. I added a small globe of Earth that reflected John’s home, and a copy of War and Peace.

In the series, each of the members of the Atlantis Expedition were allowed to bring one personal item with them from Earth. John Sheppard brought a copy of War and Peace.

His character’s reasoning was that if he was going to be away from home for such a long time, he might as well bring something that would take him as long to read.

I also added a small mission patch, like those that are found on uniforms, that was embroidered with the Atlantis Expedition logo.

It tied the whole table together, along with a few sprigs of greenery, blue thistle, and white roses and candles in small gold mercury glass votives.

The second table was the gorgeous guest dining table.

Draped with a luxurious dark blue satin tablecloth, and flanked by six white chairs with dark blue satin cushions, this was placed along a wall of tall windows, with a view overlooking the Cleveland Harbour on Lake Erie.

The dining table centrepiece featured a large gold double hoop design, and a lush floral garland that draped over the edges of the table. with lots of greenery and white blooms.

The tableware was a colourful mix of gold glass beaded charger plates, green glass dinner plates, and teal glass goblets.

The deep teal blue satin napkins at each place setting were bound with a gold ring, and a lovely star shaped napkin ring was placed on top for additional sparkle.

Large gold and glass lanterns flanked each corner of the table, with large creamy white pillar candles ablaze, creating a intimate, romantic effect.

Our sweetheart table was set in a quiet corner near the entrance of the John Glenn Visitor’s Centre, which is part of the Great Lakes Science Centre.

In this alcove, we placed the table for two against a large mural of a gorgeous sunset over water, much like a sunset you might see on the planet where the lost city of Atlantis was found.

There is also a very inspirational quote by John Glenn, that fit the mood of this shoot perfectly.

The table was covered in a dark blue satin tablecloth and a table runner with a sequinned gold circle pattern.

We used the same gold beaded glass chargers as the dining table, but added deep blue glass dinner plates, and vintage light blue glass saucers.

We added the deep teal satin napkins, dark blue glass goblets and smaller vintage dark green wine glasses.

To complete the look, we placed a small black wrought metal candelabra with votives on the table for extra romance.

Our second, smaller cake table was in front of a galactic sky mural, adjacent to the sunset and inspirational quote wall.

We covered this table with lush emerald green velvet, and another table runner with sequinned gold circles.

The cake was placed on a black pedestal stand, and a small arrangement of greenery, white roses and blue thistle adorned the base.

Two tall silver candlesticks with creamy taper candles stood alongside the cake, and blue and silver star shaped votives were scattered about the table for a dreamy effect.

Strawberry Fields Forever ~ A fruity 70s inspired wedding styled shoot

MAY 7, 2021 STYLED SHOOTS

Today I am excited to share Strawberry Fields Forever, a fruity 70s inspired wedding styled shoot with striking red, baby pink, and apple green details.

Images were captured by Tayana B Photography with styling by Kimberly Lehman of Love, Laughter & Elegance with the collaboration of a fabulous creative team…

Kimberly says of the shoot…

Strawberry Fields Forever is such a groovy theme for a summer wedding! Not only was it a popular song by the Beatles, it reminds us of a simpler time.

I might be a bit biased, as my parents were married in 1971 and I was born in 1973 but I love looking through wedding photos from the 1970’s, and bohemian type decor.

This era is very on-trend right now as inspiration for weddings and events so I wanted to incorporate the free spirited vibes of the decade, along with a delicious colour palette for this styled photo shoot.

I chose strawberry red, baby pink, and apple green, along with a whimsical red checkered pattern as the colours for this awesome shoot.

There was several sweet details featured in the shoot.

First, we had a live wedding painter, Studio Em Treasures, who created a beautiful custom piece of artwork of the ceremony setting.

We also had darling ribbon wands with our colors of pink, green, and white, created by Plume and Paper.

They also created the custom stationery suite for this groovy celebration of love.

Finally, we included our vintage record player, and original 45-rpm record of the Beatles’ “Strawberry Fields Forever”.

The album also made a cute setting for the wedding rings.

Our wedding couple, Dan and Fox Kaye, were a joy to work with, and to style. Dan’s personal style certainly looked like he stepped right out of the 1970’s.

He wore a classic black suit and white button down shirt, accented with a vintage 1970’s black velvet bow tie, strawberry printed dress socks, and strawberry shaped cuff links.

Fox Kaye wore a vintage 1970’s wedding gown, made of fluid crepe fabric.

The ivory gown featured a high neck and long sleeves, embellished with Battenburg lace, and a sheer teardrop shaped insert just below the neckline.

The vintage gown featured a unique Watteau train, which lay like a cape from the shoulder line in the back, and fell to a chapel train length.

To accessorise she also wore a very delicate gold necklace, with a tiny strawberry charm.

Fox Kayes hair was styled in long simple waves, with a small birdcage veil pinned at the crown.

The veil was accented by a vintage hair comb, decorated with a strawberry and small white flowers. Her complete vintage look was utterly charming.

The florals for the shoot were spectacular.

Bouquet Studio created two amazing freestanding pieces for our ceremony area, triangular in shape, with a little curve towards the top.

They just met the bottom fringes of the large macrame hanging we used as our ceremony focal point, provided by Lavender and Lace Event Rentals.

Our dining table centerpiece was lush and full, in a lovely vintage, white milk glass compote vase.

Dan’s boutonniere was comprised of a strawberry red zinnia and small pink bridal protea.

Fox Kaye’s hand-tied bouquet was a beautiful mix of dahlias, ranunculus, small bridal protea, anemones, daisies, and roses.

We added pink carnations and small white daisies to the three tiered wedding cake, to complement the theme of the shoot. In both the centerpiece and the ceremony arrangements, several types of flowers and greenery were used.

Those pieces included white O’Hara garden roses, zinnias, dahlias, scabiosa, bridal protea, anemone, pokeberry, ranunculus, stock, daisies, carnations, parvofolia eucalyptus, silver dollar eucalyptus, Italian ruscus, seeded eucalyptus, boxwood, and raspberry leaves.

This groovy shoot had two beautiful tablescapes.

Our dining table was set for six special guests. The table was covered in a floor length strawberry red linen, and the table runner was a bright white, featuring diagonal rows of contrasting trims.

The vintage chairs were an eclectic mix of styles, adorned with contrasting tied chair sashes in solid strawberry red and red gingham.

Our place settings were a gorgeous mix of vintage pink, green and clear glassware, rose gold charger plates, and vintage china with hand painted strawberries and flowers.

The vintage silverware pieces were crafted with a delicate floral pattern. For a final pop pf colour, we rolled alternating cloth napkins in baby pink, apple green, and red gingham.

The napkins were wrapped with vintage ceramic strawberry napkin rings.

The laser cut place cards were created by Plume and Paper, and were secured in darling little white ceramic holders.

They also created the unique acrylic table number. Our dining table centerpiece was lush and full, in a lovely vintage, white milk glass compote vase.

Our second display featured our yummy desserts.

On a large white vintage baking rack, we draped a vintage white tablecloth with an embroidered strawberry design.

On the first shelf, we placed our vintage beverage dispenser filled with freshly made pink lemonade, and our darling three tier wedding cake.

On the second shelf, we displayed a larger “love” sign that matched the cake topper, and a gold mirrored tray filled with yummy frosted cut out cookies that matched our theme.

On the top shelf of the rack, vintage pink glassware completed our sweet dessert display.

The baking rack was flanked by two vintage white wicker chairs with red and white gingham pillows, and a classic picnic basket with a checkered cloth.

To complete the styling of the Strawberry Fields Forever shoot was the magnificent cake and cookies.

Our cake was a delightful, airy, three tiered confection, perfect for a summer wedding.

Created by Eat Cake 216, the bottom layer was covered in white buttercream rosettes. The middle tier was frosted in the palest shade of mint green, and dusted with sugar crystals.

The top tier was simply covered in smooth white frosting.  Hand crafted strawberries were placed on each tier for a cascading effect.

We added pink carnations and small white daisies as well for a sweet complement to the strawberries. Our gold painted “love” cake topper was created in a font and style often seen in the 1970’s.

The cake looked amazing on the vintage baker’s rack, next to a refreshing container of fresh-squeezed lemonade, and gorgeous decorated cut-out cookies.

The cookies were created by Anchor and Bows bakery, and decorated with hearts, daisies, strawberries and peace signs.
