Bit beyond over the top... she doesn't look very excited about it.

Guest April 29, 2011
Um, everyone assuming that he made it for her. She made it for herself. She is actually a talented cake decorator who recently competed on Last Cake Standing on Food Network with her husband has her Sous Chef

Everyone is assuming he made it for her. . . WHAT IF SHE MADE IT FOR HERSELF???

Or worse yet, what if the Mother-In-Law made it for her new son-in-law???

I saw this episode on the food network channel. The camera actually lies about her reaction here. She told him that she wanted cake that looked like her, so that was his gift to her for the wedding. On the show, she was excited about it.

Guest November 27, 2010
ummm...is he tryna tell me something?? like, "this wedding is the end of you!" ? haha!! bring it on!!!! Big Grin

If my husband made a cake that looked like me I would still love him and thank God he didn't make a cake of one of his old girl friends or the like. I know that he loves me and I love him and that is what marrige is about, truly loving someone and wanting to spend the REST of your life with them. Honey, I still love you!

I'm sure the intention was good, but I find that these sort of novelties detract from the bride. I did film a wedding where the bride and groom had 12" replicas of themselves at the base of their wedding cake and thought was really cute. Another had cute "bobble" heads of themselves topping the cake, which was quite adorable.

I'd rather do a "strolling live table," whereby a dressed model, made up to look like a character or celebrity wheels in a table filled with pastries or appetizers. This would be the way to go, if you wanted something magical and over the top.

myself i like it . i would have been shocked but then he was thinking about me all me me me

The photo could have been darker than the real woman, too. Which would explain why the colors are off. The design is very tricky to pull off, even for a seasoned cake decorator. I'm actually very impressed with the skill in making the cake. Personally though, I hate the idea of the cake being all about the bride. They could have the cake half the size so the decorator could have made one of the groom too. The way it is, the wedding and reception seems to be all about the bride, and not the bride and groom's new life TOGETHER.

Don't blame the bride, blame the person that told her it was a good idea and the friend that should have stopped her. Not everyone is born with good taste. LOL

From a baker's point of view: Give the bride what she wants without being judgemental! It is not YOUR day... its her's!

dude... she wanted it.... here's the link http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-507390/Bride-wedding-cake-life-size-model-herself.html
why would anyone want to eat themselves? or have others eat them? ok really no perverted jokes here either....

Guest August 22, 2010
for God's sake why would anyone think the groom did this? doesn't the bride plan, order, etc., her wedding to be just exactly what she has dreamt all her life? he didn't do this; SHE did it! this has been on TV and she did it all.

Guest August 7, 2010
Did the groom get a look-a-like cake, too? Now that would be unique and interesting. Probably not, right? Bridezillas are all about themselves. However, he looks happy; she looks disappointed.

smileInitially, a nice gesture, then you have to wander maybe she wanted to see what she looks like outside of her body, perhaps she wanted to be bigger than life, what about the taste, who wants that much chocolate? If you think the cake cost alot, look at that RING!!!!! on her finger... and then when all has been said, perhaps she wanted to see what she looks like in death... It looks like a dead person standing up... one who is smililng because, she surely is not as she stands beside the man she will spend the rest of her life with.. And what is that little knife gonna cut????? LOL!!!! They definitely left a LASTING impression on their guest for sure.....smile

Haha seriously!!!! I'm not sure if I would be thrilled to eat something that looks like me but I wouldn't divorce over it!! That is just ridiculous. lol

I have seen this couple on TV, she actually demanded to have the cake made in her image and provided a picture of the dress to the baker so they could match the colors.

This first thing I thought when I saw the picture was there was absolutely no way that came as a surprise to her.

Guest July 13, 2010
Awwww, she just doesn't want to cut the cake....Ir's soooooooo beautiful. not!

Guest July 11, 2010
I'd skip this one. in theory it's a good idea - but not for an elegant wedding. it would be fun though if it were one of the star wars or avatar characters!

Guest June 26, 2010
someone who attended should let us know how it tasted, i'm not making any comments as to it's appearance, this couple worked on the details and got want they asked for, that sums it up.

I think if the groom took the time to order such a cake, it is to show a display of love, affection and devotion to the bride. While it might be a little startling, it is the thought and his love that counts the most here!

Guest June 8, 2010
I appreciate the sentiment but it doesn't seem to be appreciated by the bride - do you see the expression on her face! I'm thinking the honeymoon wasn't too much fun for him.

We would definitely charge an arm and a leg
if someone ordered a cake like that from us.
LOL.

The bride pretty much always orders the cake, or has a girlfriend or wedding planner do it for her.
There is no way she didn't know what she was going to get on her wedding cake.

For a cake, it looks pretty amazing - I wonder how it tastes ? ...and how much it cost ? ...would I want a cake made in my likeness ?...NO WAY

Guest May 24, 2010
That's disgusting. It's not even a very good match to her skin or dress pattern.
