Thank you for considering us. Sometimes when couples are planning a wedding on Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket, they are not aware of the variables that impact the Mainland DJ's cost of services. So in an attempt to be helpful, I'll share the following information with you. It's more than you asked for, however most couples have appreciated the "education." Minimally it helps them understand the cost of services, the variables involved and possibly how to plan minimize the impact on costs.
An island wedding is a full day commitment for a mainland DJ. Your DJ will take the ferry, roundtrip; pay for the equipment to be ferried over; pay for a taxi cab or vehicle to get equipment to the venue, and then back to the ferry at the end of the reception. These are all additional costs and variables that must be considered in pricing. (These costs are roughly 200.00.)
The time frame for your wedding is also important. Your DJ will need to get back to the "last" ferry on time; or stay over on the island which would have an additional impact on costs (roughly another 200.00 + when you're on the islands). (Your DJ will need to sort out whether the ferry will be running late enough to be able to get back to the ferry with equipment to the mainland the same day; or whether to make arrangements for a room incurring additional costs/time. This is probably the most important variable. Once your reception is finished, your DJ will need about 90 - minutes to break down equipment, get equipment into a vehicle, and get to the ferry on time.)
When a couple is planning ahead (appropriately) as you are, this information may help you keep the costs down. Minimally it helps you understand what's involved in pricing out the services.
When we provide the entertainment, thre are two of us at each event (my wife, or my daughter and I, guaranteeing smooth transitions and professional delivery of announcements, etc. We are all well educated and comfortable with public speaking (MC Responsibilities). We charge $899.00 for a four hour wedding reception (the average time frame) within 30 minutes of Sandwich, Cape Cod, MA. We charge $150.00 an hour for additional time. When we are providing services on the Island, we add additional costs as discussed above.
We always arrive with back up equipment (two MAC computers full of music - JBL powered speakers) and we always work closely with our bride and groom to make sure that their wedding reception is the happy, worry-free celebration that they deserve! (We also sing professionally and provide karaoke services as may be desired, all inclusive, no extra charges.)
