Hello! We've had our ceremony and reception site booked since January (and planned since last July) for our wedding on Saturday, August 11, 2012. Our ceremony will take place at the Mt. Tabor Amphitheater in SE Portland. We are supposed to have our reception in the same location-- in fact, we've already booked our caterer, photographer, rentals, etc,...-- but there's been some major miscommunication between the Portland Parks Dept and the Mt. Tabor Neighborhood Association about outdoor noise permits and amplified music time limits and such. It's becoming such a hassle and so stressful that it's making the fun process of planning this wedding not so much fun anymore. As sad as I would be to not have the reception at the park, I'm at the frustrated point where I need to start seeking other options.
What I'm hoping is that someone can help us with this: an affordable banquet room or large space (pretty flexible on style, but preferably in SE or NE) from 4pm to 9 or 10pm where we could hold our reception and still use our own amazing caterer and bartender (just beer and wine, which we would provide). If needed, we'd be happy to keep our rentals reservation and provide our own tables and chairs, linens, and speakers & microphone. We even already have alcohol insurance for that day.
It would just be a pretty typical reception-- a casual buffet lunch, drinks, speeches, toasts and dancing. I know many venues in town need the client to use the venue's own in-house caterer, so I'm trying to locate a space where we could still use our own caterer and provide our own alcohol. We honestly just need an ADA accessible space large enough for 100 really awesome people-- and accessible for a few hours prior to the reception to set up. Nothing too elaborate. We're pretty low maintenance.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Sincerely, Lara (a bride in need!)

Hi Lara,
I am very sorry to hear that you are having such difficulty, especially when planning your big day. I would suggest contacting both public and private schools in your neighborhood - they would not be in session and would have all the things that you may need; ADA compliant space, large dance floor, tables and chairs, kitchen, etc. They would also be relatively low cost. Another idea would be to contact your community center as they too would likely have the space that you require. Congratulations on your engagement! I hope that you have a fabulous wedding day!!
