Hi there!

I am a bride to be in Brampton,Ontario and am looking for some fellow brides to be who want to chat, share, unload, whine, cry, complain, laugh, give and get ideas,suggestions...whatever!! This way, I will be talking to people who are in the same boat as me and also reduce the possibility of driving my non marriage minded friends up the wall with my incessant wedding chatter! Good luck ladies! (my wedding is planned for Sept 24/2011)

Hi Ladies, im Kiy. My wedding date is August 13, 2011. Everything is going well now that we finally decided on colors after changing 4 times. My fiance is very helpful in the decision making (probably to helpful) I started planning in July and think im doing pretty good at this point. So far have booked the church, reception venue, selected food, DJ, Florist, Bakery, photographer, wedding party dresses and groomsmen tux and purchased my gown. Just trying to save to pay for everything. My parens are retired and do what they can but this is hard and we are making sacrafices to make this day as beautiful as our love for one another. Congrats to all the brides.just a word of advice..Always communicate with you mate.. smile

omg !!!! thats the same day im getting married. we've actually been together for 10 years, but i cant find a decent reception hall for a decent price and its driving me crazy... i also just started looking for dresses yesterday. i feel like im so far behind even though i just gt engaged 3 1/2 months ago

Congrats on the big day! I, too, am in this boat with you. My wedding is July 15, 2011 and I am already melting down and I just started planning a few days ago! From non-attentive husband to be to not being able to find a reasonably priced venue, I feel like I am on a one track road to tackyville and I am not so thrilled with that! I am sure much more tears are to come...

Hello, first I say congratulations to all the soon to be brides. I am planning a wedding for Sept. 17th of 2011 and I am lost. My fiance has allotted me 5000 for the wedding because he would rather use the money to buy a house. I will be married in TX but what can you get for so little money. Help!!!

I totally understand what you are going through we are planning a wedding for the 17th of Sept. 2011 also with a VERY tight budget.
We found that if you become a member at like a Moose Lodge you can rent their place for like $275 and that is with insurance also for like if anyone gets hurt or say leaves and is in an accident.
We also found that we can have the wedding in our local state park wich is only going to run us $100 for the day
Then we found also that like at the True Value Hardware store you cause rent Chairs, Archway and if you need tents they have them also, but what is nice they will go and sit the stuff up and take it down depending on how much you need depends on the price we are looking at like $200 maybe
you also can get alot of your decorations from http://www.orientaltrading.com/party-themes-and-events/wedding-a1-388560%2098-1-1.fltr

Don't know if that is any help or not but good luck

Hi Ladies, I understand what you all must be feeling! I have been married 16 years now but am still closely connected to the wedding planning jitters. I am a Day Of event coordinator who realized that the most important part of the planning process comes down to logistics and management of the day! You want that day to be as you envision! That is my companies niche! I am in Maryland but I recommend you find a Day Of event coordinator now who you can begin passing your vision to so you are confident that the day of your wedding will be exactly what you dreamed it would be! A Day Of event coordinator will save you money and give you peace of mind with very little hassle or overbearance! Hope this helps!

Hey everyone, this is our first wedding also. Ours is indoor and in NY. It will be indoor even though I always wanted an outdoor wedding in a park near a waterfront but it's ok. I have no set theme just using my favorite colors and the date is so quick that I am getting a headache with trying to plan it all. So I hope everything goes well but as long as I have him and my two children in my corner I know it will be awesome. My date is April 16, 2011. Or so I hope, that is if we can get the venue set correctly. But congrats to all of you.

Hello AndiC,

May I suggest finding a great Wedding Planer to assist you with all your planning and keep you on budget regarding your big day.

I am a newly wed Sept 26,2009. I hired a planner at www.veronicabridalelegance.com. or visit weddingwire.com and search for their listing. They were my life saver. Goodluck

Hi Everyone! Congrats on your Engagement! My fiance and I are 19yrs old. And we got engaged the day b4 valentines February 13, 2010. Our wedding is set for July 16, 2011. I'm so excited! I already got my wedding dress and its amazing. We are getting married in Southern IL in a town called Benton. We still haven't found a venue, caterer or really anything yet. I have my maid of honor and bridesmaids and flower girl chosen. I don't have a ring bear at the moment and don't know if I will considering we don't have really any young cousins to take that part. I've been looking online for a while trying to plan things out. I already feel the stress. As of right now the budget my fiance gave me is $4,000 but it could change to a little bit lower. But were not sure yet. Does anyone have any advice for me??

Hi my wedding is July 16, 2011 and I'm so excited too. I'm 19 right now but will be married when I'm 20. I got engaged at 18. The first thing you need to do is figure out a budget b4 u start looking at things cuz then u will want to get stuff u fall in love with but then u see the priceand it might be too high and take a lot of money to buy especially if their the favors or food, etc. Figure out a theme, the type of dress you would like and everything. Its fun to plan but it can be stressful. Also make sure you ask your fiance for his opinions well like on the colors, food, etc.

Hi. My name is Jessica and how I found my dress was that I knew the theme I kind of wanted. And I've always loved the Cinderella type dresses. I do like some of the ones that fit the body figure too but to me I wanted the one that looked like Cinderella. It took me 5 dresses to try on and I found the right one. You also need to figure out a price for your dress b4 you start looking. Cuz believe me one of the dresses I tried on and liked was way too high of a price for me. If you want to look like a princess/Queen on ur wedding than go for the ones that are kind of poofy. If u want to look sexi but elegant for the long gowns with the train that show off more of the back. Or if you like short dresses you can do that too. smile I wish you the best of luck & I hope I help you out a little.

Hi and congrats....Any words for some one planning by herself? I am having a west palm beach wedding in july of 2011(indoor) and I don't want it to be.....whats the word NUTTS! I want to have fun with it, but sometimes I get so frustrated because all my family and friends are in other towns or out of state upset and I have no friends here because I moved here to be with the love of my life and he helps as much as he can but this is not really a man thing ( but he loves to help). Any words of insperration for me wink!

Hi I know how that is to not have any of your family or friends live near you to help out. My friends and family live about 4 1/2 hrs away. So its a little hard especially when my bridesmaids all live up that way. So I haven't figured out their dresses yet. However some advice would be to send them emails of things you like and have them give you their opinions on stuff. Its still tricky but it does help. I wish you the best of luck! smile

Our budget is around $5,000 too. Nowadays it seems a lot of couple's are trying to save their money for AFTER the wedding, which is absolutely a smart thing to do. Because of that I've found that there are a lot of ways to "cut corners" and still have a beautiful ceremony and/or reception. There's tons of DIY ideas out there is you're crafty, or ask around your families and see if anyone else is. It can also add a more personal touch to it and make it more memorable for you. Just google away and jot down notes of things you like and see if there are ways to do them yourself or modify them. It'll come together in your head I promise! I'm not the most creative person and when I first got engaged the thought of planning a wedding was terrifying, but we're getting there! 6 months to go smile

I planning my wedding for October 7, 2011 in Owensboro, KY! I have got a lot of stuff picked out decoration wise and I have the dress picked out. We are getting married at my fiance's grandmother's house (It's an old farmhouse and my theme is Rustic so it just worked very well!)We are making our own food minus the cake (I cannot be responsible for something that needs to be so decorative) Our colors are midnight blue and yellow. It's going to be about 80 people or so there. I'm overwhelmed by all the stuff I have to decide and my fiance tries to be helpful but he's in training for the military so we have to plan over the phone.
Congrats to all of you!

I think I'm tooo excited now. I just got a call from the place where I'm getting my centerpieces and I had asked the lady see if the supplier would give you them at a better price then what you're selling for them now. Guess what, I got it!!! It was originally $60, marked down to $40, and now I'm getting them at $30 without the candles or $35 with the candles!!! I'm sooo spyched!!!

Congrats sweetheart! Our wedding date is June 4th, 2011 in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. And I'm sure I am one of the most "behind brides" here! Not only have I not secured a venue, or decided on one, but I have not bought my dress yet either. Less than nine months to plan a wedding is just not fun while going to college full time =/ I hope you are wayy more planned than I am wink Good luck!

If you need any ideas or advise, I can help. I'm pretty quick on doing things. My fiance is also in university so I'm doing all the planning. You can get a friend or someone close to you to bounce off ideas. Since I'm the one with the creative ideas amongst my friends, I'm just telling them what I'm doing rather then getting ideas from them.
I confirm all my purchases with my fiance so he can know what's going on (like that its his wedding too, but my decisions!)
Plan a day to check out the reception and ceremony since they're the most important. Without that, you can't have a wedding. Food should also be on the list after the ceremony and reception. Appointing your MOH and bridesmaid, ushers, groomsmen, best man, flower girls and ring bearer is 3rd. Get also a co-ordinator as well so that they can make sure everything is perfect for your day while you spend your wedding day enjoy every last minute instead of worrying.
Third should be guest list and budget. Then the rest can follow as they come. I still haven't gotten my dres and i have less then 8months but you know, you can always get them to push for you. They'll do anything for a sale. You're paying them, not the other way around even though I wish that could happen.

Tip # 1 Have fun!!!

I'm getting married May14th, 2011. Supposedely its the perfect month since not alot of people are getting married then lol i think otherwise.
My fiance is in the army and he has to go to school for his last semester so its all up to me.
I have a quick question..
If I have contact with a banquet hall that doesn't stipulate the cost of a child, is it possible to cancel the contract and receive my deposit back? When I called the manager, he said the price is the same but he has a different meny for kids. Meanwhile the kids don't drink (its an open bar) and there's no way they're goign to eat a 5 course meal. Does anyone know of any info?

look at your contract and see what all it says. open bar also means unlimited pop or juice. and make sure the price is truly
worth it. there are certain time frames where you can cancel but you stil have to pay a fee

Thanks for the info. I actually was able to speak to him in a "calming manner" lol and we brought down the price for the kids.
Now at least I can afford buying pretty centerpieces then cheap crap. lol Sorry I'm very blunt.

I can honestly say, planning the wedding isn't as bad as you think it may be.
Im going to give you some tips on planning your wedding.

Set realistic goals. Like if you want to get married in less then a year, make sure to take some time off work to be able to go see reception halls, photo, church/ceremony sites,… and book 2 hrs intervals. Normally when going to check a place out it doesn’t take more then an hour but you want to have enough time to get to the other place and have a break for a quick bite to eat. Remember you’re human and still need food!

I'm well organized and love to write everything down so I bought a binder with seperators, with those plastic paper holders (for when the papers I get don’t have wholes), and a note pad. If I see something, I write it down because one thing I’ve learned is you forget everything from one moment to the next. Also make notes of the questions you want to ask before you meet your vendors. Trust me, you’ll go blank. Thank god for my fiance!

I got engaged back in January 2010 and since my fiance was away for 3 months, first thing I did was getting quotes from all sorts of vendors. Ones I liked and didn't like. That helped alot in comparing prices. I also made a list with my fiance of what is important to me and what's important to him. We're pretty much on the same ball so that was good.
Like for instance, "limos" they're not as important to me or need to be expensive since its only for a couple of hours and then you take your own car or taxi at the end of evening. Why not spurldge on something more meaningful so we decided instead of booking two 6 or 8 seaters (by the way, the law in Quebec Canada stipulates that you can only have a maximum of 8 people in one limo even if it holds 20), we made sure to have the excact people that would come in our limo and webooked one 8 seater and an antique which is something we both wanted. We wanted to make sure our wedding party we're taken care of but in the end the worse case scenario is someone takes a car or gets driven to the pictures. Instead of spending $1500 or more, we're spending less then $1000 with tip!

Make a budget from the beginning. Try to figure out the place you want your wedding to be and see how many people you can afford to be there. Its much easier to cut people then you think. You just have to be cut throat. Remember, family comes before friends, friends come before co-workers, and co-workers come before aquaintances. Make sure you cut people from the bottom up if you need be.

Another great tip, is when doing your budget, include a tip for all services. In my case, the reception hall includes the tip in the price so I don't have to calculate extra. The DJ, photo, video, and limo don't include tip so try to reaserach oline or even ask the person you made the contract with what's the general rule for tipping.

I also found alot of decor online that certain vendors provide at a much higher price. For example, the guest book with pen and pillow and flower girl basket generally sell at about $100...I found them all on ebay in bundles or even seperates. In my case, I'm having 3 flower girls so i didn't buy a bundle and I don't need a photo album, so i bought the guest book seperately and the pillow and I'm looking at sellers that sell more then one flower basket and try to make them offers for a better price. It never hurts to ask. All this is costing me approx $50! All the little things I save, comes out big in the end or at least I can use it for something else.

Try to get the manufacturer and item# from centerpieces or favors you might like. I’m Greek and we generally give out boubounieres and favors (it's the same thing but one is bigger $ then the other). Try to find wholesalers online or bulk purchases. You can save a lot. And did you know, Wallmart orders in bulk for you too. My wedding boubouniere is a photo album 4x6 of 50 photos. I placed an order and got them all at once. You can check before you purchase to make sure that they're the right ones..ect. Which a lot of times you can’t do online and then return. With wallmart, if there’s something wrong, you don’t have to buy the items. And they have a great quality control so you can trust to get them perfect. Just give enough time to order and then receive them. It can take 3-6weeks to receive anything. This also can help you with your dress. I have a dress I love that they quoted me $2000 with alterations and all but I also found it only for $1000 less with shipping which is free in most places. Go to the wedding stores, try on all sorts of dresses, make notes of the dresses you like, and see what size fits you. Then you can order it online (try always a little bigger just in case), and have the alterations done once received. It will save you lots of $$$$ I’m getting a cuture dress for $1000!!! Come on, now that’s a steal!

A coordinator for the day of your wedding is like a wedding planner. She/he makes sure people know where to go, make sure flowers and decor is done, and any wedding disasters are averted. Remember to make a list of your vendors and phone#s so that if something happens, you can quickly call them before you burst into flames.

If I come up with more tips. I’ll let you know.

Good luck to all. And enjoy the time. Let the downers be and associate yourself with the people that are so excited, they want to jump out of their skin to help you.
And take the help!!! You need it!

Why would they not want to hear about it? All of my friends who aren't interested in hearing about my wedding haven't heard from me in awhile I can guarentee that right now! My family on the other hand doesn't hear from me much anyway so when they decided that they didn't want to go into that or help or even just offer encouragement as I stressed and planned... they simply stopped hearing about anything. I've got too much to do in addition to planning an October wedding in less than three months to bother with those who can't be supportive and helpful! I truly wish you friends who want to hear and atleast someone to bounce ideas off of. freeman_jl@att.net If ya ever just wanna freak over some aspect, or brag because of an achievement (like yesterday I got the cake and flowers all taken care of YAY!!!) feel free to drop me a line. I'll be glad to listen! smile Jennifer

If anyone is on a budget you should check with one of their stores! I am also getting married in my home town at a church I grew up in. and I am still unsure about the reception but its all going to have a fall theme colors smile not bad for only being engaged for 3 weeks!

Hi, I am a bride to be in Waterloo, On and getting married on February 26, 2011. We already know that we want to have it in Collingwood, Ontario, at a ski resort. Good luck everyone!
